All game review sites seem to suck. One thing you can try if you're truly looking for an honest assessment of different games - see if the game has a fan site or a large following on the internet, and see if that site can convey some of the depth of the game to you via faqs and posts etc. If there are no fan sites, or the sites seem largely populated by 10 year olds, then you probably can safely keep looking for something else to crack your wallet on.
