Title: Low Room Warfare
Post by: Kanraku on Aug 21, 2004, 04:34 PM
Have you ever joined a low number game on a popular server in hopes of being able to host it, and through patience of staying in the game you finally get the key? Have you ever been attacked by a group of people just after that are fixated on getting the key from you? It's happened to me twice now, and it makes me mad that there's nothing I can do to prevent it. We all know that it's a distinct advantage to be the host of a low number game because you can get more games into a shorter period of time. So if you're going to be playing for a while anyways, then it's well worth it.

It's happened to me twice now. People come into your game and they act like dorks until you kick them. As soon as a spot opens up, more come, and even the ones you kicked before eventually come back. They keep doing this until the key falls into the hands of one of their group. If you just wait it out, the game closes automatically and they have someone stand by to create it. In the end it's not a huge deal, but it still makes me mad. How do they come back after being kicked anyways? I think the only way I can actually avoid this is getting a power card, but I don't have a paypal account and the prepaid cards are probably only going to come to western Canada by the time hell freezes over.

Yeah, this is called room raiding, and it sux.  A power ticket would be nice, maybe a friend who has a paypal acct can somehow get you one.
Otherwise read this to see how to deal with it (last section):

The reason behind it, if anyone cares, is usually that if you're high ranked and have 3 high ranked buddies... it's very hard to get a game going.  If you come in and ask the key to kick everyone on the opposite team to make room for your buddies, most keys aren't going to do that... because it doesn't make sense to kick a ready enemy and especially not to make room for opponents who will pwn you.  Then, even if you somehow fit all four friends on the same team, everyone on the key's team will leave and not want to play vs you (I call it the wand effect) and so the key gets frustrated waiting for a game.

The solution seems to be to hijack someone's key, and they do it in low rooms because the key to high rooms is useless... if you have trouble getting a game started in room 20, you're going to be really sad trying to get it going in 350 or something.

Not defending room raids btw, I don't do it unless some key I know is being a real prick.  I thought people might wanna know why it happens.

just for future reference.

2v2s are the easiest to control, you get one buddy on your team and you with the key, if someone room raids you, you can just sit until the attackers become bored and give up, if they dont...kick both people at once and close the room for a while to pass the key to your friend (1v1 with your friend, then leave and give him the key)

you can hold any room as long as you keep it small and have patience.

1 vs 1 can lead to a game crash raid...  one sentinal goes in, starts, leaves, when the room crashes there are like 10 people from that guild creating rooms.  Usually one of them gets it.

Thanks for all of the replies. It seems that having friends in the room is the best thing I can have now. Unfortunately, most of my friends quit playing GB by the time they reached metal axe. If anyone from this forum wants to play with me, my username is Kanraku, I'm a BA+, and I play on the avatar off servers.

agian 2v2 with a friend offers the most control, even if someone leaves, the game will still start, and you cant be forced to start when everyone readies.

as i say in 99 % of my time playing gunbound
GET THE FUDGE OVER IT  ^_^
i hate when people whine about room raiding and double team
or when the get a chick on there team that is better than thim and the person whining is a money wh0re and he wont stop bishing  <_<
my guild Icons raids room all the time because it is like someone in this room said the only way to get a room without being kicked or just not being able to start
if you have lots of your friends in the room then losing the key after a few kicks isnt that bad... most of the time
and if the gay money wh0res get the key GUESS WHAT
we raid it again

You tell me not to complain, yet, you seem to be complaining about money whores specifically. Get over it. They're just trying to make a little extra money.  ^_^
