Good entertaining movie. I enjoyed Johnny Depp's performance but Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley fail in acting.

Good movie, VERY good movie...but isn't this thread months late for when the movie was actually being talked about?
When it was out, I worked at the movie theater. After everone left the credits were rolling and I went in to clean up. Then that scene after the credits started and I didn't think much of it. So I was standing there in the middle of an empty theater and I looked up at the screen right at the very end part where that monkey thing jumps at the screen real fast and I was like WHOMGWTF?!
But yeah I never saw teh actual movie. I don't see too many movies these days.
Yeah, Johnny Depp was awesome in that movie. I think he saved the movie from being a total flop (other than all of the Orlando Bloom fans :x)
The CG stuff was really well done too.

I'm too cheap to listen to movies in theater, I buy them in DVDs for nice prices lol.
while i never actually saw the movie i hear it was very good. we are playing one of the pieces of the soundtrack for marching band, and it is very lively. I forget the name of it but it was the song right after "blood ritual" and its very lively and syncopated and pirate-like. Its right in between the beautiful-yet speedy song and the slow and emotional one. Kinda livens up before putting down?
ewww wtf you like that lol i had to vote that i actualy like it
While it is a great movie in and of itself, the problem is the fangirls. I'm talking about the girls that memorize the movie because "oh em gee johnny depp is liek so hott!!1"
Plus, a sequel is in the making, and you know what that means: a soon-to-be high-demand for antacids.

Was that from white ninja?

sorry to dissent, but this movie was a total yawnfest for me. an ordinary plot, boring fight scenes and ordinary acting covered up by a bunch of nicely-done special FX and overproduction (as is usual from hollywood). a couple hours after watching the movie and i've forgotten it already...
BUT... the last decent seaworthy movie i saw was "master and commander".
a seaworthy action movie that was at least as entertaining and much more clever was "waterworld".
the last decent pirates movies or series i saw was "horatio hornblower" on PBS.
a superb pirates game franchise was the monkey island series... very, very clever.
bottom line--> if you think "PotC" was good you need to watch more movies. :/
Pirates are always cool. Except maybe when there are some ninjas involved. They are perhaps a bit cooler.
But this film rocked!

I saw that and found it pretty boring and unoriginal.

Yikes, one of the worst movies I've seen. :kiwiwink:

Negative. Well, I thought PotC was an OK movie, not so much good, but more movies? Blar, I watch an average of 8 movies per week. *cough*nolife*cough*
>>BUT... the last decent seaworthy movie i saw was "master and commander".
>I saw that and found it pretty boring and unoriginal.
i'll bet a lot of people did. it was a hell of a lot more realistic than PotC but took it's own sweet time developing, altho if you had any interest in real-life sailing it was probably educational. it was also realistic in that long periods of time went by without anything too dramatic happening, just like life. some people can't stand that in a movie. :o
>a seaworthy action movie that was at least as entertaining and

hehe, not a great movie for sure but i've seen much worse.
>Blar, I watch an average of 8 movies per week. *cough*nolife*cough*
damn i envy that. well, maybe when i get my disability sorted out i'll have more papes for movies. what really bothers me tho is i can't think of a really good pirate ever in the history of movies... errol flynn anyone??
Quotebottom line--> if you think "PotC" was good you need to watch more movies. :/
Someone's taste in movies doesn't really depend on the quantity watched. They may have more experience and gain more knowledge, but it really doesn't effect the taste. It's pretty pointless to debate on whether PotC to be a great movie or not, because its aim was pretty much to entertain, not win an Oscar for best picture. If you didn't find it entertaining then okay, you didn't, but you don't have to judge the rest of the people's tastes by telling them to watch more movies (indirectly calling the people that liked it, "noobs"). -_- Whoopdee dooo.
you're right of course. i should have just come out in true gunbound fashion and called people "a bunch of gay noobs". sorry about that. :D
seriously, i hear your point but it still disappoints me that too many people in this country only look for entertaining movies and don't seem to have patience with movies that might be some of that (entertaining) but also a quality film and possibly even educational. okay, by today's standards i'm probably a pompous, snooty ass when it comes to movies, lol...
lmo the movie rocks! best one i ever seen... !11!!!
Twas a great movie but after seeing 50+ times right after it came out (I hate other people who don't watch movies immediately) I can't watch it anymore.
