Hey, hey it's me again. I've been busy trying out cake these weeks, and despite it's low damage, it's a pretty good bot. Í know enough to write a guide on it, and it shall be the guide to stop the shot 1 machinegunners cake that I've met. So on the guide will ya?
TABLE OF LEETNESS
1. Cake's shots(and bot)
2. Shot 1
3. Shot 2
4. SS
5. Items/Maps
6. Closing

1. Cake's shots(and bot)
Shot 1
Damage : Around 160
Delay : 740
Dual damage : 270
Weight : Light
Shock : 60
This is Cake's staple shot. It fires an electric ball and such has splash damage. It has great land damage and it's good for bunging, but it's much better to rely on 2 for that. It's the shot who made cake so abused, and it's still as strong as it was, but how often do you see cakes? The angle range killed the money whores, only the true fans remain.
---
Shot 2
Damage : around 140
Delay : 880
Dual damage : around 300
Weight : Light
Shock : none
The shots newbs abuse. Sure, I say abuse, but the key to play good Cake is to alternate between shots in different situations. You'll see what I mean next. It's special property to suck up land, thus making an hole even if you land it on the bot, is very useful. And as an added boon, it pulls bots towards the impact point, making for some interesting strategies. Metallic bots are attracted like hell, however bionics are almost not attracted at all. I suggest you use this to screw up the land. NEVER SHOTGUN SOMEONE WITH SHOT 2. The shot 2 is ethereal or something and will pass though people without dealing damage. If you're behind a teammate using shot 2 and you use shot 1, you're gonna eat a -25g in the face. Owned his ass.
---
SS
Damage : around 300
Delay : 1290
Dual damage : lol?
Weight : Light
Shock : none
The SS PUSH bots back from the point of impact. The SS was way useful back then I was still a lowly silver axe, but Softie nerfed it so it does not push off cliff anymore, making it almost useless. The only thing it's good for now is pushing guys to Raon mines or deal a finishing blow. Meh, another great shot ruined by Softie.
---
CAKEBOT ITSELF
Health : 750
Shields : 250
Defence : Good
Angle range : 20
Movement : OMFG HYPER DUPER ULTRA DWARF MAGIC long
Climbing : Good
The cakebot is a bot with great movement and low profile, made to dodge shots and move to screw the assailant's power. It has craptastic health but good defence thanks to the recent increase. Its angle range is so craptacularly small, especially when compared to its old angle.
---
2. SHOT 1 STRATEGIES
I find shot 1 to be utter usefulness when coming to annoy people. Low-delay, low-power shot 1 was the favorite shot of many a-player back then. Now, only the true fans remain because of the angle range(basically, all the newbs left cake alone). So what to do with this Shot 1? Let's see :
-high angle
-bunge
-railgun
-put people in mega-ass deep holes then follow with dual 2.
-put people in unshootable holes with dual+
---
HIGH ANGLE
Basically Boomer's angles, cakers should find at home if they try boomer. They have about the same weight(minus gay Boomer windtricks). here's a teeny-weeny chart to help you some.
1 screen = angle 81
1/2 screen = angle 85
1/4 screen = angle 87
Watch out for big height differences, they will affect your shots.
---
BUNGE
Shoot at their feet, just like Raon. You will put them in an hole but don't dual. The second shot will bonk on the bot's head.
---
RAILGUN
Plain old cake gayness. Just aim and shotgun. Yawn...
---
PUT PEOPLE IN MEGA-ASS HOLES THEN FOLLOW WITH DUAL 2
Now it gets funny. This is a favorite pastime of mine, blocking gay Sate's nose with this baby. You put him in a mega-ass hole with 1, then you dual 2. The result is obivious, due to the height change, most newbs will miss you, and most pros will hit you. As for this latter sentance, it's best to use that on newbs, or low angle bots. Never put a nak in an hole. It hurts.
---
PUT PEOPLE IN UNSHOOTABLE HOLES WITH DUAL+
An ever funnier favorite pastime of mine. You see, shot 2 makes deep-enough holes so the Shot 1 doesn't overlap the shot 2. What result do you obtain? Something like this :
---------------- ---------------
. .
'. .'
. .
. .
'.__.'
As you can see, low angle bots are screwed. If he manage to get out by shooting the dirt, just dual shot 2 from above to dig him even more. Everyone will laugh. Dual+ shot 2, but don't let the bot be pulled entirely. Instead, miss a little far so it can be pulled near, but not where the shot 2 landed. The shot 2 then kicks in for the second hole. It should give the result above.
---
3. SHOT 2 STRATEGIES
Now the fun begin. Cakebot's strategy shot 2 is really feared by pros and newbs alike, because you can do really gay tricks with that. I'll explain some(NOTE THAT SOME DUAL+ STRATEGIES ARE IN SHOT 1 SECTION, I WON'T GO BACK ON THEM!) Here goes :
-the super duper dwarf-ass deep hole
-putting morons in holes because some newbie teammate missed
-bunging when they don't expect it
-eat their angle
-piss your teammates
-dual
---
THE SUPER DUPER DWARF-ASS DEEP HOLE
You do know than in some maps like Miramo or Dragon, land is aplenty and gaps are not, right? Taek advantage of this by using the mega-ass deep hole of doom. If you want to get results like those...
jootheevilcake> You're so pwned.

I love this strat, as it is simple, easy to do and annoying. Basically, all you do is use shot 2 continually! Then they go trapped, they yell at you for playing dirty(in their own set of rules) and they attempt to clear the dirt or leave. It works everytime.
---
PUTTING MORONS IN HOLES BECAUSE SOME NEWBIE TEAMMATE MISSED
I love this, as it it effective, require only one shot and happens all too often. Basically you do that :
EVILCAKE> nt
ArmorLAh> LOL UR TEAMATE MISSED ROLF WAT A NUB
EVILCAKE> So what?
26 >
Wind
Oo o
o <o =[]A
A[ "] <>
------------------ -------------------
EVILCAKE ArmorLAh. .
. .
. [ . ]
. [ . ]shoot shot 2 here
. .
. .
'.___.'
And this happens :
EVILCAKE> J00 sir, is hereby PWNED.
ArmorLAh> WFT CHEATER NOW I DONT HAVE ANGLE WFT REPORT U
EVILCAKE> lol
26 >
Wind
o <o
A[ "]
------------------ -------------------
EVILCAKE . .
. .
. '.
. '
. Oo o .'
. =[]A .
'._<>.'
Now all your mates say "ns", you say "^^" and the moron say "fux u".
---
BUNGING WHEN THEY DON'T EXPECT IT
Usually, this is done in Dummy Slope. You know how there is gaps between the islands? All you have to do is to shoot your shot 2 to the side of the island when someone is close to the hole. They will be dragged, and they will fall. NEVER dual for this though.
---
EAT THEM ANGLE
This is really fun. When they are standing on highter grounds, feel free to dual a shot 2 behind them, on the descending angle of the slope. They will be immobilized, and better yet, they will be trapped thanks to the hill they were standing on. Nice strat for pesky lightnings.
---
DUAL
Shot 2 isn't splash, so even if it does like 10-20 less than shot 1, splash is only counted once. So if you dual shot 1 will do 260 and shot 2 will do 300.
---
4. SS STRATEGIES
Poor SS got nerfed, so there isn't much things left to it now. I can only think of one possible strat.
-pushing people on raon mines
---
PUSHING PEOPLE ON RAON MINES
You know how the SS push? Then why not put a pesky bionic back in the mine's radar with SS? Nice to help a lone Raon vs a bionic.
---
5. ITEMS AND MAPS
I usually load dual, dual+, dual+ because with cake's huge movement, you don't need a tele, and in most games teles aren't allowed so this is good for your everyday game.
If you're a pro who enables all items take this : dual+, change wind, power up, dual. It gives a nice deal of firepower while still being on the defensive with the Change Wind, which is always useful.
For map I would reccomend all maps for cake, because or they are good bunge map, or they are bad bunge map. On good bunge maps you can bunge, and on bad bunge maps you can put people in holes.
---
6. ENDING
PHEW! Finally I'm done writing this. I hope you learned some, and if there's anything missing just tell me, I'll be happy to add it and give you credit.

Haha blood, now your guide will spawn more evil cakes like us ;>_>
Another idea for teh SS...
The enemy is....
X
-------------|
|
/
So you SS them to the side
@ X-->
-------------|
|
/
X
-------------|
| <-----O
/
Then you shot 2 them down, it works on Dummy slope, and a few other maps.
But besides that, nice guide. ^^
edit: damn code art..
Nice idea Tooya, I'll add it on teh guide.
Thanks, and play more often >:/
nice guide and isn't this the first guide that has been posted in what 1 or 2 months? >.>
Even more devastating is a team of cakes on cozy side b...
cake: SS to edge
shot 2 to bunge
...
It requires no item usage, very fast kills, and can only be defended by being on a very high tower, which there are only 2 of... total ownage
Nice one. Can i post ur guide on my site?
EDIT: Cakebot is one of the damage takers in GB. Also, it's poorly against nak.Read here to know why. (http://www.geocities.com/gunbound_canada)
Nobody likes my guide :(
QuoteMeh, another great shot ruined by Softie.
I don't think softnyx really had a choice there. People were abusing cake's SS to push people off ledges on the first turn. And it isn't really ruined because as long as you trap them like, against the wall with SS, it'll still hurt pretty bad.
Great guide though, I came a machinegunner, and left a super-duper deep assed hole digger.
Kanraku
well bloodbug i wanted to tell you on gb that im gonna be a JD machinegunner/trapper now and gonna wait until they fix raon...so ill be using cakebot now =D thanks for your aid though blood
nice effort but.. it doesnt teach u how to aim accurately :P still nice tho. esp when ur lil pictures look so cute. is there any newb guide needed here? i mean for starters. i can make some.
Quoteit doesnt teach u how to aim accurately
How could I do that? Not everyone plays with formulas. My guide only relates strategies and explots for such bots. If you want formulas, go ask creedo.
(Sorry if this was somehow rude :D)
I like the guide. After being hooked on nak forever, not playin GB forever then getting back on cake I love it.I really could care less about the angle since mine is 70 and is STILL reachable so yea.LIVE ON CAKERS

Cake has never been good in avatar off...
and truth be known..lightning has always been better due to high defense and high splash in avatar on....
The high angle was the only reason it was whore...most people didnt even know how to trap with it, which is the point of the bot.
You see cakes every now or then with a bunge suit (they rape with bunge suits)...or some battle axe playing metamin dual+ only, to give himself an advantage that usually fails him.
You should also mention that you can use shot 1 in a foe in a hole with a shovel to trap them in an antlion hole (or some other name). This renders them unable to fire in many direction.
The SS CAN be used for bunging, but not directly. What you need to do is to fire the SS till they are push to the area in which you want to push them to, then have your teammate do the bunging. I have done this on Stardust before with an allied mage bunging the Raon enemy.
Also the second shot is also as good to drag the enemy to a mine, a very useful weapon against Raons.
its quite hard to ss them to the edge because you would need to aim behind them in order for them to move to you and they might move bacj then u wasted a turn + delay
Quoteits quite hard to ss them to the edge because you would need to aim behind them in order for them to move to you and they might move bacj then u wasted a turn + delay
I assume this was related to Tooya's strat. Good point there. Any half-decent player would retreat from the edge, unless they were absolutely sure of a kill and did not want to readjust their angle/power. It may not work in 1 on 1s unless you're playing against a compleet newbie, but it's a killer in team games.
Don't forget that if the opponent had dueled then the SS has a chance of having a fater delay than the other person. The recommended angle I suggest practicing with JD is 50-60 since there isn't too often of a chance you can get high angles for the better traps, not saying that you shouldn't use high angle at all but use 50-60 practice as a fallback
NICE :dualwink:
I still need to find a way to change ur ASCII pictures into the website...
QuoteI still need to find a way to change ur ASCII pictures into the website...
= ur friend for html :)
I already tried it. Next time dont show off.
i find that cake is the raon killer. it can run from the babies, it can shot 2 them into its own babies, it can get out of its shot 1 holes... ect.
it just owns raon left and right at close range, medium range and you can hole them easy, and raon cant do long range so...
Here is a nice little image that the lovely anthian, Akari, has given us if the dreaded ant-lion trap. Doom Sensors Critical, grubby!

nice guide, but nothing i didnt already knows in there
