Yeah, gb allows u to alt + tab out. That's where hacking kicks in.

Yep, Gameguard is shit. If it were a person, he would be lying mutilated beneath a pile of 200 leeches. Personally, I've never had problems with it, but I have a friend who does. And he's the only one who used to play regularly in my time zone.

Wether it causes problems in a hackers procedures to hack gunbound I wouldent know, but I think its just there to stop the wanna-be's and give the most of us a false sense of security...

i doubt gameguard's ability to actually prevent any serious hacker from hacking an account, but meh, its there at least to put a bit of hinderance in some people's attempts and maybe discourage some others....none of us will ever know how useful it ever is though...and IMO, its' prolly useless...

Absolutely, not only is game guard worthless, it is also inconceivably annoying. Beyond that, many users have received errors due to its absolute retarded programming.

I'd like to plead for the two people who voted No to please comment. I'd like to hear why you don't want gameguard removed.

Well personally, I've never had any problem with GameGuard, so I could really care less about it.

What are the problem the GameGuard causes? I never had a problem with it but I don't mind it being removed if it causes other innocent players problems. [I didn't vote though]

Disallowing alttab doesn't fix it.
Encrypting memory doesn't fix it.
TRUSTING THE CLIENT IN ANY FASHION WHATSOEVER DOES NOT FIX ANYTHING.

If it is on the clientside, it can and will be broken. Period. The only thing they really stopped was the amateur tsearch stuff, and even then anyone with a brain could just turn off the protection. (Yes, I've done it. No, it's not hard. Why it isn't more rampant, I don't really know.)

For the record, Gameguard prevents my task manager from working. I am not joking. (http://sandwich.net/lowen/images/gb-thankyousomuch.png)

Mauve, try getting the latest update from Microsoft. I fixed that problem after I updated. I couldn't ctrl+alt+del Gunbound, so I had to go get update.

I voted "No" (current count is 6) cos it doesn't give me any problems.
I'm sure that it would at least prevent the un-determined and un-trained hackers from trying stuff. But of course, no system if fool-proof. (or determined-hacker-proof).

If anything, I vote "No" cos now that GameGuard is already up, removing it would send this signal to the wannabe hackers: "no more GameGuard? lemme try this hack I just found..."

I voted no, mainly because it lets me float around on cloud 9 that the game cant be tipped into the favor of one hacker....

voted no, because i really don't understand how it works, but it hasn't done anything bad to me..yet.

i'll vote yes when my programs start getting closed.

I voted yes.
I havent had any "problems" with gameguard, fact that its practically useless had me vote for its removal.
Gameguard gets periodically updated and its cracked by some uber geek moments later.  They need a better deterrent.  Or just get a better anti-hack program.

To cr0nik: Hmmm ok, I dont really know whats going down in the haxor community but I suppose the Gameguard is good for something if its proving to be annoying to hackers.

while looking for info on that aimbot, i discovered that gameguard does help; hackers are refusing to release copies of their hacks to the general public because gameguard will update against their hacks.  not only that, but if i remember correctly, a bunch of them were complaining about gameguard--definately a good sign.  i believe it's not so easy to crack through gameguard as you think.

Check these out. That might give u an idea of what trouble caused by nProtect.

Problem caused by nProtect (http://gunbound.net/Pop_Up_Page/Notice_view.asp?f_index=211&page=1)

Another nProtect problem (http://gunbound.net/Pop_Up_Page/Notice_view.asp?f_index=214&page=1)

Okay it is nProtect.  nProtect is a scanner of files that is already oppened.  When you have a "hack" it runs a already "Turned on" .DLL file to do its job.  nProtect will search for these and make sure they are turned off.

Its a great system, but the Alt+Tab issue with Gunbound it doesnt matter.
