Hmm what exactly counts as a Kill Steal?
Hitting an enemy that another player is hitting?
Or
Just lvling in the same area as someone?
a KS in MS is usually considered another higher level player killing someone's creature that might take them multiple hits to kill, and they were working on it.
Example:
Noob A (Mage) is fighting a orange mushroom. It might take him a few e. bolts or m. claws to kill the orange mushroom, but it is possible. Pro B comes along, kills the orange mushroom in one hit WHILE Noob A is attacking it, therefore probably giving the higher level player more experience, and the lower level player less than he would have got on his own.
KS isn't that big of deal to most people, however. Monsters respawn and you can always just change channels...so people shouldn't make such a fuss over it.
Nah, i was accused of KS a couple of times when i was working on a single enemy near the other player... it seem to me like just because he/she is ranged, the whole enemy in her range are hers and taking down any enemy is considered KS. It gets irritating.

well...its called "kill steal" so it should be killing the person that another person was shooting first :P
MS is actually a free for all game... I know at first I cared a lot about KS, it would annoy me immensely, but well... When you're trying to make your way through nooblands and there's a million people doing 1 damage a hit to monsters they shouldn't be leveling up on, you can't just wait for them to be done killing it, just charge, kill everything and be done with it...
That's the main problem with MS anyways... Either you totally own a monster and get crappy exp from it, or you're having trouble fighting and you get even slower exp along with HP and MP loss.
So just KS and give the finger to whoever cries, but don't LOOT. Looting is basically stealing items that other people haven't picked up yet... If there's a couple mesos lying around, and nobody's around, just pick them up, but if someone's fighting 10 monsters and there's a bunch of items lying around, don't stand on them frantically trying to pick them up :/

But well i dont loot much, especially after getting defamed for picking up a leather when i was in pig beach.. aint worth it ;):
So, the reason i am worried about the KS issue is because on the website of maplestory, they put KS as an illegal activity punishable by suspension for a couple of days. I dont really know how they go about doing this but i just want to be safe. Thanks for the clarification all.

meh, once you start leveling in the ant tunnel people dont care about ks or looting really.
3 other archers and I were all standing in the same spot pelting everything that moved, everyonce in a while one of us would jump down and try to pick up some of the huge pile of loot that was accumulating below, no one really cared since you lose alot of health trying to get in and get out...
rare item drops are an exception, in other words, dont steal items worth alot of mesos...
but no one really cares about a few charms of the undead and some mesos
