It won't be very innovative but Gunbound really sucks lately... GIS seems to be in a deep crisis and majority of players is totally pissed off. I'm not going to complain about the event, even though it was really screwed. I am just horrified at the sudden increase of hackers amount. What's more, they are absolutely unpunished and they can do what they actually want. Within the space of the last two weeks I have seen a huge diversity of hacks. 'Players' using aimbots, 1hitKOs, Slot Hacks, Bots etc. are now almost as common as legitimate players. Reporting them is pointless, since they won't suffer the consequences anyway. If such situation will last longer, me and plenty of my friends will give up the game. GIS team now tends to focus on creating brand new crappy avatar sets, instead of fighting against the plague of hackers ;(...
at least its not as bad as diablo 1 got. That was just a giant hack fest of people with god mode trying to kill each other pointlessly.
I found myself complaining about this as well, but name one non-intrusive way they can stop things such as botting and aimhacks. As for 1-hit kills and slot hacks, I'm not really sure why that is so hard for softynx to stop, mostly because I don't understand how this goddamn program works in the first place. However, as for the first two, there isn't much you can do about them.
Consider aimhacks for a second. Imagine for a second that it reads what angle you are shooting at and then takes input about where your opponent is. How is it that softynx can stop people from doing this? By not letting you see what angle you are shooting at?
Botting is a little different. Although they can't prevent botting, they can punish for it. As with aimhacks, there is nothing that can be done to actually stop people from having programs that makes people autosuicide. Deleting all accounts that have less than 990 gp would certainly slow the botting.
GB is already very intrusive..but yeah, different story.
I saw all these people posting about "oh em gee, i played with a 1hitko guy and he didnt turn it off on my turn lolx". They didnt turn it off because they cant. GB did something to the .gme to stop people from changing the damage value in game. But, if you open (insert name of random trainer here) while nprotect is loading, even though it will say 'game hack detected' and the trainer will be closed, the values will already be changed. Same with slotters, it cant be patched it because its part of the game, all thats being done is a modification the values.
Yea all free MMOGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Games) are starting to degenerate because of lack of control by the GMs or administrators. MapleStory is currently in the state of many fly/jump/speed hackers flying across the map and doing jump quests for ores in 30 seconds. Today I saw about 1 every screen, it was sad. Wizet managed to block out all godmode hacks, but there is still a 1337 hack with causes the player to heal 1337 life everytime he gets hit, this is less common though. GB has tons and tons of botters. Script kiddies are ruining MMOGs.
amazing becuase you guys all talk about hackers being abundant as legitimate player and in my times of playing gb i have yet to see a hacker :<_<:
I consider myself fortunate that I have only seen ONE definite hacker in all my days of playing.
I've seen signs of them (high avg. dmg) but i've yet to see one actually use a hack.
I haven't played GB for the last 3 days, but from the long hours I've spent before that I have seen only three hackers.. But then again I only play with friends.
In 1v1 you don't get a lot of hackers, just a lot of aimbotters...
aimbots are also kinda screwed cuz they miss quite often.
I have noticed a lot of one hit KOers lately, man those really suck..
Quoteaimbots are also kinda screwed cuz they miss quite often.
How do you know this, exactly?
Aimbots don't miss. Let me explain. Gunbound follows it's own laws of physics consistently. If an aimbot is going to ever hit, it will always hit. Things such as land in the way might cause problems, but it will always follow a path frompoint A that will cause it to land at point B barring any obstacles. I've played my share of aimbot users and let me assure you, they don't miss very often (at all).

aimbots do miss cuz just by looking @ the screenshots, it recognizes through pixel recognition, this can only be so accurate, so there will be flaws, usually it wont be off by much, but it will be off. its pretty obvious when someone is using an aimbot these days, from my knowledge all these "ebay aimbots" all can't go beyond 1SD , so 1.1 sd = screwed
and in 1v1 yes i do get a lot of aimbotters, generally they shoot so damn slow especially in 1v1, and its generally no formula (random shooting)
80% of players for GIS had lots of crashing today.
I can't lvl up dis way.
aww.. bummer.
good: hackers who hack for fun
i played a guy who called himself ecko or something similar, and he had made a lightning hack. it was hysterical! he could put as many of the slot item lightning over your head as he felt like clicking for! the first time i played him, i won by moving a few mobile lengths out of the way of the big group of "4"s over my head. :) eventually he just made a huge unaviodable wall of them.
that was fun.
bad: hackers who make available the hacks
easily available hacks can get into the hands of many people, that is where it goes from a fun and rare sighting of someone who is proud of thier ability, to chaos.
ugly: script kiddies
script kiddies are generally idiots, and abusers. they cant hack, they are dumb. and they only use the hack to win, not to see if they can bypass softnyx's erm... interesting... antihacking codes.
Heh, I remember playing with Ecko. The game was hilarious. A friend and I played with a blue wand with a 90% winrate the other day. He was a mobile-length beside me, and took 10-15 seconds to shoot at an 89 degree angle. Each turn. So I said, "Maybe you should stop botting and learn to actually play the game." since he was a poweruser with phoenix, and other cash-only shit. He said something like "leave me alone". Next turn, I move slightly, and wind goes to 2 (from 0). He LOWERS ANGLE, and shoots WAY past me. I found it humorous.
Hack with them, only play friends, quit the game or find a different game.

I know because i have a friend that uses aimbots.
He was banned like 2 weeks ago.
dont suspect me for hacking cause I DONT HACK
Go me, I haven't played in months now.
Has it really gone that far downhill?

If you hadn't noticed...For one thing, Dovo has quit his reign as GM, which leaves us with nobody as GM from the best of my knowledge.
No gm No fun
I witnessed one 1 hit ko hacker and he had grub...He bounced off of a pixel hit himself and me, but i still won bwahahahaha
My experience recently:
True aimbots don't miss hardly at all, I played with an aimbotter for a dozen games or more and he only missed 1 time by a few pixels, and that was apparently because he mis-dragged. He also consistently hit full power shots beyond 1 screen in 20+ wind, shooting past one screen is meaningless at least for the particular aimbot he used.
I have seen true, obvious aimbotting maybe 2 other times since then, so I don't think it's widespread and I know for a fact that the one aimbot the guy I mentioned earlier used was successfully blocked/patched. I played with him again months later and he was just a regular player. He said something like "haha remember when I used to be 'good' ? :("
I've heard that you need windows XP with service patch 2 in order to bypass Nprotect and use some bots, and this may be the reason that you don't see a lot of aimbotting even though the program has gotten out to several people.
I have seen delay hack about 6 times in thousands of games, but most of those times were clustered together recently (like past 5 months) so it's really 6 times in... I dunno, 800 games? So delay hack isn't common but is more common than the other stuff. I have yet to see one hit KO which is the cause of all the absurdly high average hit stats you see.
Unless I'm just very lucky, I'd say serious cheat hacks aren't very widespread. I can say for sure that 99/100 of my recent games had no real cheating. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be stopped by softnyx ASAP.
I'd also like to say that I hardly think gunbound is dying because of these problems. When zone 11 and 12 stop being red/full all the time and I never have to refresh the server list to go where I want, then maybe I could believe gunbound is 'dying'. But it seems just as popular as ever to me.
Its still some good fun to play, but the crashing out is starting to get annoying.
I wish that Gunbound and its people focused on fun more than getting rid of botters hackers, etc. But its only human nature to strive to be the best, which includes taking shortcuts. Its inevitable. Its how we are. We are doomed to our own demise due to one huge vice... Greed and the striving for power.
Every game I've played and seen has its share of hackers and botters. I've gotten too used to it to worry about it. Just the "Oh. Another hacker." and keep playing like he isn't in the room. If it's one hit ko, I leave after that game. No use in leaving during a game when one's in there when you might have a chance of killing them if they accidentally leave it on. :^_^:
same...i dont encounter many hackers maybe once or twice a month. as for maple, that game is way too ghetto for me to play. 2d slashing with alt and jumpin wit ctrl is like WAY too ghetto. but as for GB, i still think it went down hill. Gb days is over for me now, i rarely play. but im in to WoW now.
