Title: My computer is in deep shit
Post by: Shaft on Mar 09, 2005, 08:27 AM
Well. Here goes. I can't open anti-virus applications, I don't have a back-up disk too.

I got an MSN virus. Serves me right eh? Sure. Everytime I open MSN, in a minute or 3, it'll open all message windows and spread itself. I can't get it off my computer. I'm hoping any of you have a solution.

Either that, or I'll have to be off for a while.

By the way, sorry Mithra, for going off while chatting.

EDIT: I got it fixed after an epic battle. Nevermind.

It's an auto send. I had many trying to send me the file over and over and over no matter what they did. Most got it off. Some don't know what a virus scanner or trojan hunter is for so they still have it -_-;

I guess according to that notepad message you get every startup (for the infected ones), Its directed to someone called "Larissa", and the writer named himself "-S-K-Y-D-E-V-I-L". Watch yourself. The virus is in an MS-DOS file, and is about 17 KB.

Oh Mith, when I tried to open anti-virus files, it automaticallly closes. That might be the case for them.

I double checked again, its WORM_FATSO.A

It opens the text file ONLY on the following days of the month: 1st, 7th, 10th, 19th, 25th, 26th, or the 30th day

As shaf noted, it does indeed deactivate anti-virus programs and such. In this case, you may want to visit some anti virus company's websites, which have free online scanners that can remove it for you. I believe Trend Micro and Kaspersky have this on their websites.

deadAIM is win. It takes AIM and strips it of evverything useless and gives it some more useful stuff. It's almost like a barebones messenger but it's got some nicer features like cloning and logging.
