We recently had this problem in 2v2 league that the other team disconnected multiple times.
This is an example from yesterday when we were 2-2 (first to 3) and the game got cancelled twice during times when me and nars had quite obvious wins. Plus 1 time on loading screen :o
So the question is: what to do when the opponents won't use common sense? Do we need a rule that say '3 disconnects = lost that game' or do we need to school you in common sense?
I will try to show you what I mean with common sense in this matter:
Meta mine, dual only. nars had bigfoot, i had boomer. mronlan and badgrammar had trico/turtle.
Me and nars were at ~full life when one of them suicides next to nars at the west side of the map. it was my turn and I had a thor shot with dual about to go off. the suicider disconnected so the game froze. nars had to leave and I finish the alive guy. after the game: rematch.
there was a similiar cause the next game, we would've won but one of them disconnected. purple box or by mistake, I don't know. but we need to set a rule, or do anything to prevent stuff like this. any suggestions?
My ruling: Disconnect warrants one rematch. If you disconnect again it is at the discretion of the other team to allow a rematch.
Basically I'm saying, Team A vs. Team B. Team A is winning but all of the sudden, one or both members of Team B disconnect. Ok, factoring in that this is Gunbound, disconnects happen. So you have a rematch. If Team B disconnects again, Team A can either be nice and play them again or simply take a win.
Or something similar.
If one team is in an obvious position to win then they should be given the win. If it is even and no one if at a clear advantage then it should be re played.
yeah but some people don't realize what an obvious win means
Well then they can dispute it here. Thats what there is the forum for isnt it?
That just takes too much time... I think that shere's idea was good.
*nods* one replay aloud =/
that is not very intelligent, it's almost as allowing one /quit
common sense is very hard to achieve, people have different common senses =s
well... i was playing a match against dragonsama and i was about 2 be up 2-1 because my dual was about 2 hit him but b4 i could shoot i lagged out and wen i came back on he goes "come back here im winning 2-1" im like wdf but i gave him the win then it was 2-2 even hp my shot and i lagged out again... then he says its his win...
i think if it is an obvious win they should get win but wen person whos winning lags out they should defiently get a rematch
Edit: I think hes letting me finish

Yeah, I remember you lagged out on our second game of the match, and we still haven't made up since we've both been busy and we couldn't replay it right away since you were still lagging. Maybe you should reboot your comp after you disconnect :o:.
some people are just greedy and want wins, they know it's an obvious win but their stubborn childish minds refuse to admit it.
This is really a hard one, I wondered myself what a fair solution would be. If you say 'no game with a disconnect is legal' then the player is encouraged to just /quit if his team is clearly going to lose. If you say 'you must accept disconnects' then you can never be sure the game was won fairly.
The best I could come up with is this - if you disconnect from lag, and it truly wasn't a /quit, then you must take a screenshot of the purple box. It will also help if teammates screenshot the "lag warnings" that come up during the game.
Unfortunately, if someone is really determined to cheat, photoshop makes this policy useless.
You can't just go by 'common sense' (counting HP, number of lives remaining, etc) either, I've won 1v2 and 1v3 before. It takes luck more than anything, but luck is part of gunbound just like disconnects.
I like the "first disconnect is free, 2 in a row means you accept the result no matter what." Rule that Shere came up with. It's not 100% fair for all situations but it's good enough without getting too involved.
Then we will have a chance for all players to simply /quit when losing once having no penalty. I say you should leave the decision to the guy that stood in the room. If someone is to abuse, let the abuser be the one with good connection =s
Btw, also, when people get purple boxed, they can still scrool through the stage, so they could take some screenshots of both lives and submit in case they disagree with the decision took by the guy who didn't lag out.
leave the decision to the guys in the room? But that won't work unless everyone is honest..
.
if people aren't honest, there's no way to cover this at all.
anyways, when a team hits ~all shots and it's about a 1 inch issue... god, common sense :P

Yeah but if they abuse this too much we'll know about it. Maybe we should require people to report when a match has to be replayed because of a disconnect. Then we can see which teams 'disconnect' frequently. And Creedo, not all disconnects come along with a P-Box. More often than not I just get *click*'d to the desktop.
yea i get disconnected alot of times by purple box but more by just gb shutting on me cuz my internet connection suks...
but i did this optimizing thing on it so it should go w/o lag now =D

I agree, but allowing one disconnect also won't work unless everyone is honest, so that's why I say, if one should be harmed, it is the one that disconnected, unfortunately. Leave the word to the guy that stood there.
Shere's idea is interesting, but I smell more trouble out of it
disconnect = win
unless the other team wants to rematch (fair play?)

same here, i get the purple box only sometimes, most of the time the game just crashes back to the desktop. usually at the win screen but also in game too ;( so very annoying!
i like the 1 free disconnect. but only if the game is relativly even,
if you are about to get killed and the other guy has like full health, and you disconnect, i would definatly count that as a loss and no free game.
or even the other way around if you are about to win no doubt, and u disconnect that should still count as your win.
wouldnt you be PO'ed if your winning shot was ruined by disconnect...
2 bad softnyx isnt involed in GBGL, that would make moderation and enforcment of the rules that much easier.. and it would be nice to have a room like this for these games Rule Edit Room (http://eathreal.freewebpage.org/picIdeaEditRoom.htm)
We had this same problem when i played tiberian sun. People would dc and they'd get away from a loss. Basically the only way we fixed this, was to take screen shots inside the game. If they disconnected u. You post a story of the game on the forums with screen shot evidence proving he dc'd and that you would have won.
I dont understand... why people do this. But they do. Niklas, i remember the person you were talking to me about before, doing the same thing to me while i was 1v1ing him. I'm glad this was posted... because this problem has finally be somewhat... resolved.
