If the room master disables items, print it in the chat window, and un-ready all users.
[optional, but scores extra points:]I do not like to play with all items on and will stop charging cash if you do not bring this feature back, because the game is not fun anymore :( :(
- [name]
Reasons:
- Creature mobiles get a healing bonus, so everyone picks creature mobiles and heals, which creates an unbalance with mobiles that do not have this feature
- Dual + has very little delay and a lot of mobiles can remove half an enemy's life with it. This is the same damage as the SS, except it is only 1000 delay
- People call me gay
- One of my feet is longer than the other
Dovo asked for item disabling to come back, so let's give it a push on the support department, and see what happens..
Thanks guys.

k, sent via Q&A. i don't mind playing all items as i said in my topic, but i agree the game is richer when specific item scenerios are enforced.
btw, one area of dispute- your complaint about dual+ doesn't make much sense to me. you generalise and imply that it works the same for all bots. it certainly does not- it deals a wildly different range of damages and effects based on the bot being used. same thing with SS. but for some reason you feel that you can't 'stoop' to using one yourself? you might as well just say that using duals is cheating and ask for all items to be removed, right?
anyway, good ideas with these letters. i played a little 1v1 jewel yesterday and it seems like the last petition worked? yay!
do you have a list of future complaints? some things i would like to see:
-fix the mute system for god's sake
-fix the test cursor constantly being unfocused
-fix dialog boxes screwing DRAG
-fix a RETURN key in a dialog box causing you to fire and hit yourself when your turn
-fix the broken bots for fuck's sake: kalsi delay and damage cap, raon babies, nakshot 2 land bug, ice SS, boomer 84 & 87, maybe others
-create a menu/area available from the server area where you can rechoose bot/items (that way you don't have to waste precious seconds choosing when entering a room)
I tried playing many times with dual + in thor's hammer, and it was just terrible... I don't know how to describe it, the game experience wasn't as fun... It felt like abusing delay then, and it still does now... It's mainly a 1v1 problem of course -- You need to be able to dual first turn, then shoot, then dual again, and perhaps shoot one more, this is when you're playing offensively... Dual + just makes it too easy to put your enemy in a metaphorical corner I guess ; there's no real delay management which urges you to risk your delay... Don't know where the shot will land? Use shot 1. Got a shot? Use dual +.
Anyway, my complaint about dual + is pretty much this... It fucks up all other items' delay logic, since the delay is so damn low.. Games aren't exciting anymore, you get way too many 'tries' which won't impact you in any way...
Heals do that, to a lesser extent, but I'd like to go back to the times where people didn't pick creatures because of heals, but rather because they can actually use the bot or have genuine interest in it... I'm also tired of having to pick creatures in order to stand a chance...
Anyway, most of the people around me who have stopped playing strongly oppose all items on as well, I think/hope I'm not just speaking for myself..
D+ w/ boomer or mage is rediculous.
armor and nak are pretty fucked if someone uses trico and boomer in a 2v2. and thats not even with weather effects.
fuck, throw in a 700-800 damage boomer force dual+ and 1 trico shot 2 and the game is over.
it's hard for me to understand the 1v1 thing since i rarely play it, but i do agree that damages need to be rolled back. seems like sloppy sate hits now do tremendous damage, also.

Sent. I wonder what their response will be.... =/
F3$%ing sent. I want something to be done on this, rawr rawr rawr rawr rawr rawr rawr rawr!
Btw, the reason I gave is "I want to play bunge only game", although I don't, but it makes sense when some items can be turned off.
well sadly i have to say this. either gis decided not to bother to reply to one of mine that i sent over a week ago or ( mostlikely) they're being asses and not reading the mail Q&A at all, sent but i wouldnt be surprised if none of us get replies
I've never gotten an actual reply from these complaint emails, aside from the automated message you get indicating that they recieved the message. I think I may be on a permenant ignore list now though because I keep bugging them about the petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/gbwc01/), although I've only sent 2 messages about it, but I've not even been getting the auto response lately on anything....is it possible that there is something wrong with the Mail Q&A? Maybe their mailbox is full?
Anyway, message sent...

Actually,I think biological creatures having a better heal is only fair to them. They have the weakest def among all,and doesnt have regen.(Mech have high def, shield as regen, bio have nth else >_>)
:dualevil2:
The all items on thing really favors me and nS`T.
What I think should happen is that only powerusers can turn off items. This way I can easily find all item games, and softnyx can make a shitload of cash off of the "traditional" dual only types.
I think that having heals is only fair considering how much damage everything does. Kiwi and his dual+ hating... it certainly makes sense.
No other item has such abusive delay =/ except maybe Ice and bandaids.
I see your point kiwi. And even though it is against my best interests, I sent the email, as I have to! I said I would and stuff.
Next time I would like it if the email to be sent was discussed a little more... I like the powerusers idea a lot more.

turn zone 4 into avatar off item disabling
turn zone 6 into avatar off item disabling
turn zone 7 into avatar off item disabling w/ 0 wind (read creedo's chinese gb expierences)
i like wind but sometimes i get games with nonstop high wind. sometimes i wish i could have 0 wind anytime i want :)
doubt that it will happen. if they implant the item disabling feature, they would have to remove the 20 seconds auto ready and the item set up saving feature.
I'm sorry, but my standards just don't allow me to do this. :/
This is one complaint I don't like at all - Complain about increased damages all you want, or complain that dual+ needs a higher delay attached to it, but disabling items will make gunbound un-fun again. The whole deal with having the items there is to use them...not disable them in every game, so that every game is dual and dual+. As sol said, they would have to remove the item remembering...and the 20 scond autokick. I wouldnt mind the autokick gone...but whatever.
ANYWAY, I think you're complaining about the wrong thing. All the posts I see are complaining about damage, not items. Complain about higher damages, not item disabling.
...and I sent in a counter-complaint asking them to not disable items. Just thought you'd like to know.
QuoteI'm sorry, but my standards just don't allow me to do this. :/
okay, i'll bite- what standards?
are you saying this form of request/protest is a higher standard than you're comfortable with, or below you?
I'm pretty sure Rei means the same thing I do, it BENEFITS us to have all items on, to have them disabled would not be in our best interest.
However, I highly doubt this will be implemented. Like sol said, it would mess up the auto-item thing a ton.
And when softnyx makes a feature, they tend to hold onto it with a death-grip.
Why code something to get rid of it? Even if its a downgrade?
How is it fun to play Dual only games? Even when we were back on Thor's Hammer, I would play all items, for the shear point of diversity. I mean, dual only, geez, that's fun. I mean, Dual, get dualed, Dual again, kill. Really fun games, huh?
And as Mezz has said, All items favor the creature users. And as I am a strict Creaturer user, I always kept all items.
Dual only? The last time I was on TH, there weren't many dual only rooms...

Yes, complain about the STUPID damages, please.
QuoteDual only? The last time I was on TH, there weren't many dual only rooms...
are you kidding me?
It once took me 10 minutes just to find a game that wasn't dual only or aduka.
I like having only to dodge aduka games now. (although it is still a pain, its less of a pain)
Thats how I've always played. o.O Not kidding.
My variation cut out a lot of the "draw a box and button here" stuff (they can figure that out on their own) and added this as my reason:
In the old gunbound, 90% of the players disabled some items. If 90% of the players in gunbound want to play the game this way, you should give these players what they want. If you do not like the game items being reduced to only dual, then you can make a limit - Example: Players are allowed to disable only 1 or 2 items.
Would anyone consider an official complaint about the damage? Honestly it's just about the only thing keeping me from playing the game.
Quote
Would anyone consider an official complaint about the damage? Honestly it's just about the only thing keeping me from playing the game.
I agree completely. The damage is about the only reason I (and others I know) have quit playing. And I've been trying to get an official damage thing going ever since WC came out. I'll even write it if need be. ;_;
If softnyx wants to keep it all items on, then they need to raise delay of healing items and the dual plus. Dual plus used to be 450 or 550 delay back in the day. They need to fix item delay balance first if they want to keep all items on.
Also even I want to have an option to disable items, as much as I like all items games. I get annoyed with morons that pack nothing but heals, it just makes the game too damn annoying. There are also time where I want to gp hoar, so dual only games are hard to come by now.
if at least you played gb:wc (everyone), you would know they reduced shot damages. so...stop complaining, especially when you never play.
about the items: actually i think the games get more fun, and ppl using heal don't bother me. (as long as they dont use ice 3 heal bla bla just to piss me off)
about the rent stuff: I didnt think it would be so cool

So... It's fine that you guys are FOR imposing all items on to everyone, but people who want items disabled are dumb people who don't know how to play properly?
Sheesh.
QuoteSo... It's fine that you guys are FOR imposing all items on to everyone, but people who want items disabled are dumb people who don't know how to play properly?
Sheesh.
I can't say I mind having a choice of item selection. The problem, in my opinion, is the balance, not the availability. But I like the suggestion of limiting the number of items that can be disabled. Maybe something like only 1/2 or 1/3 of the items can be turned off. *shrugs*
Sayo, I'll have to look into that. Last time I played damages still seemed high.
QuoteSo... It's fine that you guys are FOR imposing all items on to everyone, but people who want items disabled are dumb people who don't know how to play properly?
Sheesh.
We arent IMPOSING anything by allowing items, they can still choose thier items that they like.
Imposing an item on someone is when you give them absolutly no option, either they pack that item or they choose nothing.
"Playing properly" can easily be defined as playing as softnyx intends you to, and if we wanted that we wouldn't be sending emails and asking ourselves if softnyx messed up _____.
So yes, people who limit the items to 1 or 2 just might not be playing properly.
Ask softnyx, I have little idea of what they intend me to do.

Because you do not play fucking Bunge games or Jewel games! And thus it's "alright".
Is it true? They reduced general shot damages all around? When did I miss this? Does this mean no more 400 dmg shotguns or kalsiddon 1 hit KO?
QuoteIs it true? They reduced general shot damages all around? When did I miss this? Does this mean no more 400 dmg shotguns or kalsiddon 1 hit KO?
If they did reduce them, it's not by much. Either that, or the normal damages are reduced a good amount but Thor/other weather is still really really powerful.
QuoteWe arent IMPOSING anything by allowing items, they can still choose thier items that they like.
Yes, it's a two-way thing. The item combination I always pick in WC is Dual, Dual +, and two bandaids. I feel that I have absolutely no choice, I can't make my own room with my own settings ; people who like all items on get to enjoy the game, but I don't.
If items could be disabled, people who like all items on could make their own room with all items on, and everyone would be happy.
But yes, of course, it would mean that every 5 seconds someone would enter, then say "heals gay fuk" and will leave... That's why I proposed to have 'custom servers' where we can disable items, and normal servers where you can't disable them.
But if it's so hard to start a game where heals are on, doesn't that say a lot about what the general GB population thinks about all items on?
What bugs me is pretty much people saying "good riddance, now we can play properly" -- that's just so subjective, selfish and unnecessary...
Anyway, you guys know me, I don't want to disable items just to use cheap tactics and dominate my opponents, I along with a lot (thousands) of other people don't like the item balance as it is and feel that items should either be modified or disabled.
Ideally, dual+ could be moved to 400-500 delay and heals could be modified to only heal you if you hit the enemy (kind of like a vampire thing), but damn, has softnyx ever listened to the players about the game's balance? There was this one time, with turtle, but other than that, we got zilch. According to dovo, when asked to lower the damage for Frog SS in avatar on, the programmers said "No, the frog is perfect and we're keeping it that way"
Since asking for balance modifications has never worked in about 2 years, I think asking for item disabling is the best thing we can do...
Quote"No, the frog is perfect and we're keeping it that way"
....what the fuck are they smoking?
Gunbound was a major impact on the international version and yet I don't understand why Softnyx wouldn't listen to us. WTF are they thinking?
next time someone talks to dovo or mr. brian tomato they need to ask the key questions of "who exactly makes the decisions in GB and who do they take input from?"
...could save a lot of wasted effort from poor deluded fools who think their voices might matter. >.<
I don't see much logic in being able to disable items. Every item you disable makes gameplay that much more bland. You kill off hell knows how many strategies. As a totally unrelated example, tunneling. Tunneling, if used properly, can be highly effective. But if you were to do this in most games, you'd get the "OMFG gay tunnel" supposedly, because of the (I can't really think of the correct word here..) "Quick game gold/gp" whores. You would get nearly the exact same response when you'd use a heal in the game. Some bots need certain items to function properly. Grub (sort of) needs lightning, frog needs heals, sate is helped by teles, armour needs duals and dual+s to function, due to 1000+ shot 2 base delay.
If you allowed item disabling, most games would be limited to dual, dual+, and perhaps a tele.
This eliminates grub, frog, and cake from being able to function in a game. It hinders lightning, bigfoot, turtle (somewhat, with the upped damages, it's innnate defense isn't nearly as useful.) drasticly. Which leaves a few bots and the 'power house bots', sate, armour, and boomer. Nay at disabling items.
Items do however need tweaks. For starters, get rid of the innate item delay penality most bots have. (like turtle adds 50 to every item you use (iirc) ,etc) Heals need their delay upped, as does dual+. Maybe, lowering powerup's delay, and lightning's.
Conclusion:
Too many problems.
And one feature I'd like is the ability to disable one or two bots. Then I could be 'cheap', 'gay', and 'stupid' in my 'noob' all item games, without even needing to heal!
Gunbound makes me loose what little hope I have left in the human race.
End of my pointless post. Squee.
QuoteIs it true? They reduced general shot damages all around? When did I miss this? Does this mean no more 400 dmg shotguns or kalsiddon 1 hit KO?
im telling u.
noone uses kal/j frog unless theyre homos. or avatar on j frog homos -_-
dual only games are easier, i even used to say "no, let's not use dual+ , i dont want to think too much :P
QuoteI do not like to play with all items on and will stop charging cash if you do not bring this feature back, because the game is not fun anymore :( :(
Lawl, I would stop too if I actually paid for cash items and stuff. <_<
Well, it looks like damages are still gay, but apparently people are being cool and honest and not abusing kalsiddon. That's what people keep saying. I never heard of a game where people had a chance to exploit something easy and lame to win... but chose not to. It just doesn't seem to happen.
Anyway, I can see why they'd say "frog is perfect as it is"... this is softnyx balance. "Frog is shitty damage in avatar off and 1 hit KO in avatar on. Balance these two things and frog is 'average'"
It's sort of the same logic with JD. "He's got the worst attack and defense in avatar off, but he gets the cheap splash damage bonus in avatar on. Therefore he is perfectly balanced"
Welcome to Softnyx General Hospital:
"This doctor keeps accidentally killing patients with minor, treatable problems. But, he also delivered two babies into the world today. He is a good doctor overall."
I'm kinda neutral about the items. Dual+ is obviously good, but is it so good that duals aren't worth packing, when sometimes you need a pair of shot 2's to kill an enemy (1 then 2 won't cut it?) And obviously heals are valuable, or there'd be no gripes about them. So in the end you can't say "it's all about the d+" when you pretty much HAVE to pack at least one dual and/or heal.
I think what's happened is we're so used to using the one item in the game that has the worst penalty in the game, delay-wise... that we think anything less is unfair. But on average, most items have always been as cheap as dual+...
I guess they could increase the delay on all the items that really matter, to the point where it's a tossup between whether to dual or dual+ or heal... but will it make the game any more fun?
I sort of understand also about not wanting to think too much. Some games are fun because they're simpler.
I think we got our hopes up too high whenever Complaint #1 was a success.
Well, complaint 1 was cash related -- they won't do crap unless it's cash related, which is why we have to insist on the whole "if you don't do it, we'll stop charging cash" thing :P

I beg you're pardon? I seem to remember a CERTAIN SOMEONE complaining that they cannot disable teles...because naks use them, and you lose. ...so you don't want to dominate them, but just....dominate them? *lost*
I like the idea of some servers with item disabing and some without...though it would end up the way of when they allowed popularity in avatar off (worst mistake ever).
As for people complaining about balance...avatar on is well-balanced now. Softnyx obviously wants to cater to avatar on (more servers, cash avatars w/ better stats), so it makes sense that avatar on be balanced moreso than off. In an ideal world both would be balanced...but obviously it's not, and softnyx does what it/they can.
The funny thing is, we're putting much more thought and consideration into this than Softnyx has (and probably ever will).
I Love having all items, exept for heals. Sometimes I even use them too keep up wiht everyone else. But the thing i hate is how easy it is to use them. I mean with all the other items, you need to aim your shot. (Well, wind change doesnt need aim, but since it effects everone, I guess it doesn't count.)
I think a good thing to do is make heal sort of like a "vampire" shot. if you do over 50 dmg to an enemy in the same turn as you use a heal, then I'd have no real problems with them. What I do have a problem with is noobs who cant aim, and you have to waste tons of time hitting them.(after they heal a bunch of times.)
Another solution is to limit item diabling, like only 3 or four items can be disabled.
Well, thats my idea, peace.
QuoteQuoteAnyway, you guys know me, I don't want to disable items just to use cheap tactics and dominate my opponents, I along with a lot (thousands) of other people don't like the item balance as it is and feel that items should either be modified or disabled.

Nak doesn't need to tele 2 inches from someone in order to hit.
This is the equivalent of wanting people to 3in1 from a distance with trico instead of getting 3 pixels away and scoring 300 damage by shotgunning... I'm not going to write a nak guide here, but you need to pack wind changes, and make sure your shots land as vertically as possible in order to hit correctly from a long range without screwing yourself over, it's a very hard thing to predict, far harder than 3in1s. When I see people wasting their time and my time on gunbound by teleporting in my face and tapping their spacebar, it makes me want to punch the screen.
I don't usually disable teles unless someone has been abusing them and wants to keep playing against me. I tell them that I'm disabling teles before I do it as well.
But well, teles aren't that important... I don't think it's an unfair item, it's just extremely annoying when used for offensive purposes. I wouldn't pick raon/grub/cake/etc and disable teles to dominate the enemy, for example, but I would indeed limit the enemy's ability to be a cheap fucker by removing the appropriate items.
I see everyone's point with wanting the old ideas that were on TH to be implemented to WC, but honestly, if TH began with all items, and then along came WC where the items can be turned off, there would still be complaining. There is no easy way to satisfy everyone.
Satisfy everyone:
Give us Thor's Hammer
Sorry, but I'm not supportive of this complaint.
The real problems are with the present damage system and with the abuse of certain bots. Before you accuse me, it is rare that I ever use a dual+, and I pride myself in using a balanced itemset. However, GB is just so bloody broken lately that I can't summon the will to play. I crash every 4 games, and have to play whores to get games without a power card; this, of course, leads to the ol' Solo dual dual dead scenario, regardless of itemset. DAMAGE NEEDS TO BE REVISED. ;_;
QuoteBut yes, of course, it would mean that every 5 seconds someone would enter, then say "heals gay fuk" and will leave... That's why I proposed to have 'custom servers' where we can disable items, and normal servers where you can't disable them.
Adding servers doesn't seem very likely. A better way would be to have rooms with items disabled have an icon indicating such in the server room screen
Modifying the current ones.
Angle 79 hook shot for boomer also backshot sometime, so thats a bug angle. And the damage is way to high. An opponent missed 3 times and I've hit all my shots, and he ends up killing me in a 1-hit frog ss (which is really fucking lame).
I've hated it before and I hate it still now, heals. You do a dual and get the guy to a low health, maybe so your teammate can finish him off, and he uses heal. I mean I can use heal myself, but personally I dont like heal at all. Just my opinion.
The one hit frog ss is hated by all.
QuoteThe one hit frog ss is hated by all.
Actually, people who play frog games in avatar on *don't* hate the 1 hit frog ss.
