Title: Which is rarer?
Post by: U-Got-Shiz'd on Jun 27, 2004, 08:57 PM
My friend said Knight was rarer, but I think I've gotten Knight more than Dragon....

Dragon>>>>Knight.

Knight is nothing more then an A.Sate with a larger angle range.

Edit: Stupid me almost forgot to be on topic.

They are equal I say. I have probably gotten dragon once or twice more then I have gotten knight.

But I mean which is rarer to get when you choose random?

EDIT: Oh ok

I get dragon more than knight myself... but I rarely do random.

eh, Id say that knight is quite a lot more than an a sate with larger angle -_- As for me, I usually get dragon more frequently =/

Ya knights do move dmg than a sate. And they look sooo much cooler.

I've gotten Knight many more times than Dragon, personally. Plus, I like it better because you can't snipe with Dragon well.

I think I got dragon more times than knight. But knight in my opinion is better.

When i was a silver axe .. i'd already gotten a 3:1 ratio over dragon with knight .. i'm pretty sure it was .. lately i haven't gotten it as frequently. well, i myself believe dragon's way more rare than knight

I don't usually play random much because I've found just what mobiles I get totally screwed when trying to use. But when I play, I usually get Knight and Dragon about equally...though usually just never.

Personally, I get Knight more often, but my cousin gets Dragon.

There's one big difference between knight and sate besides the angle range or more damage: the shot spread. Sate long range has the 3 lazer spread (usually 1 or 2 will miss), whereas the knight long range shot will be exactly the same shot as it would close range.

Of the few times I have gotten knight and dragon, I've probably gotten them equally as often.

As for which is more rare, I don't think there is a major difference in which you are more likely to get. But what I would like to know instead, is how likely someone is to get either Dragon or Knight based on their rank.

Before the servers went down this weekend, I played random for about 95% of my games, and I didn't get 1 dragon or knight. In that time, I saw 4 knights and 3 dragons. 2 of the knights belonged to ruby wands, the other 2 belonged to a stone hammer and metal axe. Of the 3 dragons, they were all ranked below battle axe and above metal axe (I dont recall their ranks exactly). So my question isn't if you are more likely to get a knight or dragon, but rather how likely you are to get either of them because of your rank.

Do you think 'random' is really random? I'll make a rough estimate based on what I recall getting a few days ago. (keep in mind that these are only rough estimates off the top of my head)

Trico - 15
Turtle - 10
Lightning - 8
Boomer - 7
Armor - 7
Aduka - 5
JD - 5
Mage - 4
Ice - 4
Asate - 3
Grub - 2
Bigfoot - 2
Nak - 2
Raon - 1
Dragon - 0
Knight - 0

Out of 75 games, I got trico or turtle 1/3 of the time. After trico, turtle, lightning, armor and boomer, it becomes somewhat balanced in it being 'random' (in terms of probablility) because the probability of getting a particular bot is theoretically 1/16 (even though we all know that isn't true  ) and 1/16 of 75 is 4.6 or ~5. So having played roughly 75 games, I should have expected to see a knight or dragon at least 4 or 5 times, yet I didn't see either one ONCE. I hate to buy into conspiracy, but it seems as though random favors lower ranks much more than higher ranks. Is there anyone who thinks or has proof otherwise? I'd like to think that I'm wrong in feeling that lower ranks are given more knights and dragons, but my frustration & disspointment with random has led me to believe that it does. <_<

Those figures seem very accurate for me. I get Trico so often when playing random.

several people have told me that the chance of getting either is 1 in 30, and both are equally likely.

Random seems to give me the crappier, unpopular bots more than the cool ones, but I think it's just my imagination.

Knight comes out more often, in my experience. I used to think of it as 1/16 for Knight and 1/24 for Dragon, but it was probably my imagination. Does anybody happen to know if the figures are mentioned on Gunbound.net?

I dislike Dragon. It recieves too much damage from Trico's SS as it hovers. It also recieves full damage from Turtle's weapon 2 and more than ever on Mage's due to its size which allows both beams to hit directly. I gets bunged easily, too. Chasing Bigfoots down tunnels is impossible with Dragon. Its low defence doesn't help it much either. Sure, it has a partial immunity to Nak and Lightning, but the amount of damage it recieves from other bots outweighs this advantage. It's also hard to get used to its shot weight.

Knight is probably the better of the two, but holing one of them tightly dooms them, as with A.sate. Still, he's much stronger than his tracer cousin, with superior defence and damage. He's more user-friendly than Dragon, which is the main reason why I like him more. As the beams concentrate all the time regardless of range, he is fairly versatile.

The main reason why I decided to pick up Trico is simple: he comes out too often in random. With my new-found Trico skills, opponents laughing at my so-called "unluckyness" will have greater respect for him.

Knight - 23-ish Dragon - 17-ish.

Off topic: If knight is a refined version of A.Sate with bigger angle, Dragon is a refined version of bigfoot with a bigger angle range. ;)

Off-topic: My imagination also tells me that I'm getting 75% Lightning and 20% Boomer for my last day of Random play. (I'm a Lightning NOOB!) *squishes imagination with mental thumb*

On-topic: I get knight more often than dragon. kinda like an estimated 60%-40%

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, the chances of getting any mobile is 1/16. Let's also assume you don't know this, and want to set about running an expiriment to find the odds. You'd have to run a large amount of tests before everything getting a good idea. I'll run a simulation later and see.

BOTTOME LIZE ITS A 50/50 CHANCE YOU EITHER GET DRAGON OR KNIGHT , SOME PEOPLE GET DRAGON ALL THE TIME , SOME PEOPLE GET KNIGHT ALL THE TIME , ITSDIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE SO BOTTOM LINE , 50/50 CHANCE ;)

I think they have to be equal, but you would want dragon to be more often cause it is stronger, but I think they have to be equal.

I always thought that you had a pretty nearly equal chance of getting any of the mobiles.

The number of mobiles...16 or something....under 1.

so 1/(total #)-is the probablility of getting any mobile, knight or dragon.

Thats how I aways assumed it worked, if someone knows other ways, please inform?

In my gunbound experience, I have gotten knight around 20 times, whilst dragon only appeared 10 times..

<joke>But, knight used to be the ultimate bot in terms of power, for you see, knight would crash EVERYONE in the room with a dual shot2 with thor out. </joke>

They are both completely random.
In the entirety of Gunbound, there are 18 mobiles.
Sixteen of them you can choose straight off, two by random.
Theres an eighteenth of a chance you might get either of them.
1/18. All in total, every 18 randoms you choose you might get 1-2 secret mobiles.
