Title: trick shots for the new bots
Post by: Tenki on Jul 09, 2005, 05:00 PM
yay i'm back, no more blocked GB

so uh.. i was playing around with kal and  frog and found some 'trick shots' (if u wanna call them that)

frog:
- melee frog:
target: close range

shoot on front of you with a backward roll.. every decent frog player should know this

- island bunge shot:
target: small islands (like dragon B or nirvana B kind of rocks)

dual + on front of a rock/island and the shots will hit the top and bottom side. tried this in nirvana b

- faux-SS shot:
target: someone on thin land, but too thick to bunge with shot 1/2

shoot SS in the same way you'd shoot shot 1/2, i think the holes it makes are deeper than shot what 1/2 makes, but not as wide.

frog is pretty boring for trick shots imo -_-"
___

kalsiddon:
- melee kalsiddon (internal problems shot):
target: close range, best done vs a target who's a little higher than you

pretty much, you aim the shot so that it opens up inside the target.
a nice glitch that comes along with this is a double shot bonus. that's right, your shot counts TWICE O_o;. i've gotten 1k AND 2k damage in one dual in avatar on (it was a 950s damage total, but it probably turned into a +1900 in the damage count). my friend got 3k damage killing only one person.. funny stuff.

- HALF SCREEN SHOT!
target: half screen, player level

shoot forward with something around .75 power (less than 1 bar) with shot 1 and the top missile will circle around and hit half screen on front of you. this can be used to kill angle/bunge. the missiles fly at least a quarter-circle before they start following the tracer so it's a pretty reliable shot.

it's possible to do this with the bottom missile too, like in top lvl metamine b or in stardust A (you have to be kinda level with their platform, and the tracer has to land on something in front of you or else the missile will just fall straight down)

i'm not sure up to how much power this goes up to, but you can go a little past/under half screen. i usually stick to .75 power though.

- backshot (length of the 6 item boxes)
target: a little past 1/6 of the screen, player level.

shoot forward with really low power (maybe .3 or less, depending on wind) with shot 1 and the top missile will circle around and hit the ground behind you.
in the 2.4 shooting method i think it's a diff of about 7 degrees.

i've used this to shoot at someone from behind a rock or under them.

*new* :the missiles will be about half screen (vertically) at the peak of their circles. if you want to use this to shoot someone under you, the tracer has to land right on front of you (or else the bottom missile will just fly away)

- ADVANCED SS MELEE BUNGE
target: on an island midrange (can be long range if you can aim it right :D), preferrably on level with you or just a little higher/lower)

hehe. this is EASIEST with thor (cause it helps make huge holes), and similar to timebomb turtle SS. to test shot, try to melee shot 2 on your target's land. you want the shot 2 to spin around it and the tracer to land in the side of the island.

after the missiles split, count a little longer than 1 second and see if the missiles are still in flight. i say this because SS's 4 carrying case missiles split into 8 missiles after 1 second, but you need more air time cause the carrying case missiles don't spread out as much as shot 1/2.

pretty much what happens is, the 4 carrying missiles circle around the target but as they fly over, they split and hit the island in various places. i have done this to bunge without thor, but you can demolish islands better with the help of thor.

These tricks/tips are pretty useful, actually.  The Nirvana B frog trick is pretty cool, but hardly anyone will join a room that has the map set to that..

oh yeah.. i put melee frog in but not melee kalsiddon

i read the kalsiddon/frog guide thing pinned up there and i didn't get what he meant by the timebomb turtle SS and kalsiddon shot 2 opening inside . it was probably because i played raon-turtle back in the day and got -count 3 seconds- and -kalsiddon's shot should open up inside the bot- mixed up.

i COULD be wrong but i think adjusting it is more like aiming trico shot 2 than turtle SS (change angle for distance; change power for height; for lower angles, add more power to keep the height.

edit:
ey ramza/jin do u still play?   u master turtle all the way yet?

edit 2:
moved the "melee kalsiddon" and "frog faux-SS" trick to the first post

Hey dude... long time no see. I've been running my Creature guild more than I am playing. It's going great. Since you're relearning Creatures, maybe you could join us? You're a great and old friend of mine and I'd like to talk to you more too. :):

added kalsiddon's ss bunge o_o;

i'm starting to finally understand kalsiddon!  :o:

i'm not quite 'pro' with it yet but i'm getting close.. maybe i'll do a kalsiddon guide with everything i found on it.. jk

edit:
some of the timing is off on the kalsiddon SS bunge. the approach to doing it is wrong too.. i'll get that fixed eventually, but i'll leave it there for now.
