Yes, only the star (money) avatar works in avatar off zones.

Im my opinion, they totally ruined av off with the money on...
1) They remove ice tag and implement money suit, which allows the same money to be earned
2) People have now migrated into av off to hide from the real suits that will pwn them
a) The majority of these people like to say "JAJAJAJAJ"
3) People with no skill are in the av off zones... instead of hiding behind their stat

Please. Nobody without skills and/or a clone suit can survive in avatar on. These people you're referring to were in zone 11/12 all along.
They didn't all suddenly decide they liked avatar off better. I don't know anyone who made a serious effort (before the change) to try to play avatar on with just a money suit for the purpose of earning gold.

2a: If mexicans and peruvians bother you, mute them or maybe broaden your horizons so that their way of laughing doesn't affect you any more than english laughing.
3. How is having easy-to-beat opponents with no skill a problem? And why would no-skill people avoid avatar off zones before the money suit change? It's still the only place to get a fair game - in the mind of less-skilled players, that means it's the only place they feel they'll stand a chance once they're too highly ranked to play in noob zones. Therefore they are attracted to avatar off even without the gold adjustment.

The popularity stats did spoil the REAL theme the avatar off servers were created for
1)To make money for \/\/|-|ORE stat suits.
2)To show originality of avatar
3)To play without the pros and cons of avatar
The first one was greatly and i mean GREATLY increased, and yeah, 80% are the ones in this catergory. The second one is extremely rare. the last one is pretty common. Though like more than 6 months ago, the avatar off zone was some place for avatar eye candy. Very nice avatar combinations that cost up to 300K but damn lousy mix of stats. I miss those moments and i know they aint coming back. This is what i played GB in the Avatar off servers, what i thought to be my GB life commitment, to have the nicest looking avatar in Avatar off. Now, i dont even see them anymore. I'm one of the few non-money suit people that stay true to the theme the avatar off servers were created for in the first place. And fine, you can criticize whatever you want, but i'm staying true to my ideal, and thats what is keeping me from quitting this damned game, and whats making me think about it over and over. I am sure this is what el6uapo meant. Correct me if i'm wrong, kind sir.
Don't we all have money suits, somewhere, hidden in the closet? I used it to get cash for my other suits. To be honest i don't really notice what i'm wearing really often anymore, i'm just there for the games and practise, and people. But i guess i'm okay with money suits, as long as people don't shove it in my face that "MOENY IS THE BEST"
And yes, a money suit can be helpful if you just started. If you're going to play avatar off, and you are eyeing that nice piece of equipment, a money suit will decrease tremendously the amount of time you take to buy it. It just freaks you out after awhile seeing all those other people who look like you. Agents Mun and Nee.
I completely see your point by saying they ruined avatar off, but if you think abouit it, the money suits, have abosolutely no chance in avatar on. Thus I came up with the idea to remove the double metal axe+ server and add a server that only stats are money stats and money stats wont work in regular avatar off.

It's avatar OFF meaning no avatar stats! Popularity is a stat and thus should not be on. I don't care how much other people are getting owned in the stat on zones, or how much they love gold. The zone should deliver what it advertises. The av off zones should be pure not defiled with people playing for stats. The worst part is, once they get enough to buy their stat suit theyre just going to go to avatar on. They don't play on avatar off becuase they believe in playing for fun.
I don't know how long everyone here has been playing, but before they enabled the star, the avatar off zone was a much better place for fun. People on the stat zones use stats becuase they want to win. They play to win and nothing else. They are generaly rude and assholes. (I know this becuase I used to play stats on for a long time) Avatar off was a better place in that you could go and find people who play for fun and not for wins. When they enabled the star stat all the assholes realized, WOW WE CAN PLAY ON THIS ZONE AND NOT GET OWNED, THEN ONCE WE GET OUR STAT SUITS GO PLAY ON THE AVATAR ON SERVERS. Ever since then avatar off has been full of these assholes. They completely ruined the experience and it has never been the same.

-The third reason isn't really a point worth mentioning, it just equates to 'avatar off servers were created to play with avatars turned off'. So we'll focus on points 1 and 2.
I don't think you can say for sure why softnyx made the servers, you give 'making nice looking outfits' and 'money whoring' as the 2 primary reasons. Maybe that was NOT softnyx' intention. Maybe reason number 1 was: "So newbies can get a fair game" or "so people who like to play for fun and do stunts can do so without being bullied to death in 2 turns". My belief (which I guess isn't any more valid than yours but here it is anyway) is that they were probably thinking of mitigating the effects of the major stats - attack and defense. Popularity was the last stat on their mind.

Again, presumptuous since you don't know what's in the softnyx programmer's heads... but since you bring it up, you DID put saving for stat suits as (one of) the top reason(s) softnyx created the zone! Therefore, by your logic, the vast majority of people in this zone ARE staying true to 'softnyx intentions'.
Honestly though, whatever happens to the game is by definition 'softnyx' intentions', including the change in popularity. They wouldn't have made the change or allowed it to persist if it went against their intentions.
Anyhow, who cares about 'intentions'. Someone tried to argue with me the other day that you shouldn't shotgun because softnyx didn't intend the game to be played that way... he cited the high angle bonuses as proof of this intention. Right or wrong, I'm going to shotgun anyway.

Shrug, to me that's an... unusual reason to play gunbound. It seems to be missing the point. A popular sentiment on these forums is 'play for fun, not for avatar/collecting items'. It's not a dressup game, it's a shooting game.
And anyhow, nothing at all stops you from following your goal. In fact the popularity change helps you achieve that goal, since a lot of for-looks-only avatars come with stars attached.

If you follow the assumption that it was created to give a fair game, with all the mobiles balanced exactly as softnyx intended them to be, then it IS delivering what it advertises. When I came to avatar off, my first thought was "this server is going to give me a place where I won't lose because of inferior equipment, where damage given and received will be normal, and where nobody can claim the game isn't fair." I got exactly what I was expecting.
I don't think your complaint is really about ONE stat being allowed when the zone advertises ZERO stats allowed. We all know that one stat is absolutely not a factor in who wins or loses, it doesn't affect gameplay at all. It is only 'technically' a stat, but in reality it might as well not exist, it just affects visuals a little bit, not gameplay.
Your complaint seems to be centered around "other people are playing here to take advantage of a specific stat". I hate to sound like a broken record but... really, who gives a shit what other people are playing for?

What I meant when I said advertises was it says "Avatar off zone". It is advertising avatar off. But there are clearly some avatars on. I think it should remain pure. That is all that I meant.
All I'm saying is when they enabled STATS in NO STATS (Does this make sense to anyone else?) it suddenly got a lot less fun to play. Thus I stopped playing. I don't care about winning or losing or advantages. I don't care if they want gold. I care about them coming into the fun zone and acting like complete assholes ruining the gaming experience, so it WAS in fact my problem as it was many other people I know. If you sat in the grocery store and threw rocks at people and took a shit on the floor, hell yes im going to care. I care about having fun while playing, and that was no longer happening due to the mass number of stat players, whos only goal is to win win win. (Not to mentions most of them have a very low maturity level. It's almost as bad as counter strike)

I mean, it doesn't really matter to me now. I'm just saying my opinion of why I didn't think it was a good idea. It mostly comes from my personal experiences so I obviously don't expect you to agree with me on them since your experiences were not the same as mine. I can kind of see where you're coming from, but based on past events I think it was a poor choice on softnyx's part. I do understand that making the choice of enabling the star was pleasing to the majority of players and thus why softnyx did it. Also they're obviously pushing stats for some reason, as is seen in all the new avatars being stat items and costing loads of cash. I guess they really want stats to be succesful without all the clones. Personaly I think they just need to change the way stats work instead of adding new items but that's just me. Anyway, I understand why they did this but as a non stat player I do not agree with it because of the repercussion it had on the cummunity. but I guess people with these views are the minority on gunbound. That's why Antistat's motto is "viva la resistance" hehe. :rolleyes:

Also I wanted to add, yes there were some assholes on avatar off before they added the stat. I wasn't trying to say it was some sort of utopia. I read over again and it seemed as if I was coming off that way. But what I mean is now there are mass numbers of them. Before they came the jerks were easy to avoid and not play with.
