Question about making avatars.

Hi, i'm new to this site and i gotta question. What do i need to create my own avatars and stuff and what do i need to do first?

Chobits... Good choice!  A must see Anime.  However, he's referring to GunBound avatars, not forum avatars!  It is impossible to create and use your own avatars,  Phantom.  GIS had a contest just recently to make an avatar by submitting original sketches or art, and only a few were accepted.  The contest is now over, and there is no word as to when the next one will be.
