So, last night, I was a bit irked after seeing three standard defense clones in the avatar off server (You know, CH/GA/RX/Pet). After a while, I got to thinking...Since we all know pretty much nothing beats this combo statistically, then a way to balance it out wouldn't be so bad..I came up with some ideas myself at around 4:00 in the morning..

I was thinking about your standard RPG, like D&D and the like, and how you have a tendency to sacrifice things to specialize in another...For example, the Ranger receives bonuses in two-weapon fighting when wearing light armor. This made me think for a moment...It deals with weight, so...why not give the avatar items a specific weight? Your character can have a max weight capacity. Items like Golden Armor or Chief Hair could be incredibly heavy items. So, basically...you wouldn't be able to use all of the high stat items together... Perhaps constantly being at your max capacity would have disadvantages as well...Maybe your mobile's movement and climbing are decreased, or your delay is slightly greater..

Toning down defense wouldn't hurt either...

I love your concept, I would love playing GB with a little bit of the RPG factors counted in but... I think the jejeje and jajajajaj people would have a difficult time understanding this concept... yea it would be useful, but I know my friend says with gunbound, 'he doesnt want to think a lot, he wants to play!'

Otherwise brilliant idea, GB avatar system would be cool if it was sorta like D&D, but alas we have a crowd of already confused 9 nine year olds that curse at everyone they get the chance to, so.. adding something "complicated" like this would just turn away people from playing

--notice i put complicated in quotations, for the decently intelligent crowd this is very understandable

The only problem is that it would piss off non-statters who wanted cool looking style suits.

avatar off zone = weight off zone

well I dont think all the stat whore stuff should be heavy weight. I mean AA, its wings! FEATHERS!@!!11 that should be light - medium weight at least and chief too... FEATHERS! gold is pretty heavy so... yea.. and also that wouldnt stop them from using it much... Its just  going to be so heavy they cant move... or get out of a small pixel
Aww fuck, now I gotta get 1337 posts for a 2nd time >_<

damn you and your non-alowing html

if you weigh too much and you get shot, you tip over and you cant move.  especially if you're on a turtle.

The general concept was to restrict the ability to wear all of the standard clone things together. You could still wear Golden Armor or Chief Hair (Yes, it would be heavy. Frankly, I'd find it rather bothersome to have this gigantic thing of feathers on my head. If anything, it'd throw off balance), but they'd be too heavy to use together, same with Robot-X and PET's (Don't ask why they'd add weight, but they'd be generally lighter than other high stat things). I was thinking about AA myself, and I figured it would also be fairly light, since health isn't anywhere near as effective as defense or attack. But in general, the weight of things would pretty much be pure logic. Heavy armor and what-not is going to be heavy, things made of cloth are generally lighter.

Oh yeah, and avatar off would definitely not include weight as a factor.

Everything we need to balance out avatars and avoid clone suits is already in place... we don't even need to introduce new stats.

Simply give overpowering items lots of negative delay (or some other major stat reduction).  Therefore having +50 defense also means losing about 50% of your delay recharging time, and you get turns half as often as a speedy, weaker mobile.  This simulates the weak-and-fast-vs-slow-and-powerful weight effect you're talking about.  Replace the relatively useless popularity stat attached to gold armor with a -30 delay stat.

If they did implement weight, it could be to affect climbing, i.e. basically restore the old movement and climbing stats from old versions of gunbound.  A massive attack or defense mobile might lose half their mobility and climbing, so they end up wasting 1 or 2 turns slooowly walking to a slope after their angle is screwed.
