Hey Dovo, I basically agree with all of the last posts.  To me, Gunbound was good while it lasted.  The first year or two was great, a handful of players, you knew just about everyone there.  It started slowly rolling downhill with the uprise of hackers, botters, and whatnot.  I enjoyed the game greatly until that day when the staff announced that certain characters in the name were illegal.  For me, that counted as an underscore.  I understand how hectic it must be for the staff to keep up with each and every member having a problem, but I felt kind of ripped off.  I got banned for the "illegal" character in my name, and later that blue wand account was deleted without my consent.  I'd appreciate if you improved on your customer service.
By the way, I'm that Crono guy who always PM'd you in game.

ok after playing gunbound for over a year i still think its a great game. the worst thing in it is the pure stupidity of the common comunity in gunbound. that aside the one thing that i would like to see the most ( even though there probably isnt a chance if this happaning) is somethinhg like a offline version of it, or just a version were your computer the server for a single room that is only avilable with the ip adress. other then that its a great game that i hope to play for many more years.

p.s. a new lay out would be nice   :jumpy:
damn you and your non-alowing html

Or maybe make it skinable?  :^_^: ...besides the log-in screen I mean.

Quoteregist3rme.. he just said it's not going to be p2p. where did you all get such an idea from? o.O

dovo, as for my previous question: are you still going to -play- gunbound with us? :)
Ugh, pardon me, I didn't read any of the replies

Sorry :):

to prove the community of GB sux (your lying to yourself if you dont agree), try visiting a Tnet v2 community its awesome (if u dunno wut tnet 2 is dont ask -.-)

I definitely wouldn't quit, Dovo, GIS would be doing a lot worse than they are without you on their staff. The only main problem I have with GB is the amount of fucking botters. It's god damned ridiculous. The fact that cash-charging (I don't think most non-cash-chargers are, either...) botters aren't perm-banned is also quite stupid.

QuoteIt's a pretty good game, although I suspect entirely by accident. It can be played both casually and competitively, although there are significant disincentives to the latter, which is several pluses in my book. There are a lot of "although"s here. The game is flawed in a lot of aspects but manages to be worth playing despite this.

My main problem with the game anymore is that I cannot tolerate random games, because they are almost invariably three out of four of these:

#1: Meta Mine, Death40.
#2: Dual/Dual+ only.
#3: Stacked to hell.
#4: Aduka only.

I suppose it's not Softnyx's fault that the player base is made up of morons, for the most part. But it is their fault for not doing something to provide disincentives to prevent massive amounts of stupidity. Argue it if you want, but in any game people go the path of least possible effort to maximum results, leading to many of those stupidities we have right now.

#1: The Meta Mine thing can't be helped, I figure it's like Cave, only selectable. Maybe you should get more GP if you select random instead of a specific map? I have no solutions here.
#2: Another thing that can't really be helped without modifying the rewards system, or putting a finite limit on how many things you can disable. Are people really playing the game Softnyx made if they disable almost everything which makes the game interesting? (I keep meaning to convince someone to make a power user game that's score with nothing but team teles enabled, on nodeath.)
#3: Regardless of what Creedo thinks, it is a problem because there are absolutely no disincentives to prevent people from doing this. Wands v hammers is commonplace because the hammers don't know any better and there is no real way to both play with friends and randoms that has even teams in any way whatsoever, because there are no incentives to make people stay for such. The best suggestion I can come up with is "tiering" the zones into separated by rank, increased GP incentives for the higher rank zones.
#4: Ice tag v3.0, ho! Technically it gets around the abuse rules because it's not specifically for gold/GP gain, but you may as well face it: That's what they are for.

Add to this that avatar on is fundamentally broken right now thanks to problems both with splash damage mobiles and screwed up avatar configurations, and right now you've got a game I can only tolerate a tiny subset of. Plus, there are still balance issues with some mobiles (Whyyyy does Trico shoot differently based on the way it's facing, whyyy does Sate do such ridiculous damage, why can't we have the old, non-noob Cake back?) that need sorting out.

If nothing else, it would be prudent to reconfigure the way the servers are setup. Obviously you can drop an avatar on zone or two, the way it stands right now. I suspect that Softnyx would be reluctant to do so since that means people would be less likely to actually pay cash for avatars.
Mauvecow is intellectual for us all.

GunBound is a very addictive game.. if you take the game as a whole, as one basic item (meaning there are no botters, lamers, etc.) then the game is excellent. The fact that there are stupid people on GB detriments the game, and that's what most of us would agree on; that asshats in GB make the game a lot worse than it really is.

About the Trico I thing, I think it's just the way things work. Pretend you are on a two dimensional plane, and you are holding a pencil. Face left, and throw the pencil as if you are throwing a knife. Observe the direction of the spin. Now face right and throw the pencil in the same fasion again. Observe the direction of the spin. I'm sure you all know this already, but this really justifies for Trico being "wierd." It's a challenging mobile to use in this way.

You can't leave Dovo, you are the only GM with brains apparently.

"Tommorow Never Dies"

Shaft

He just happens to be one GM that stumbled upon GBHQ. That doesn't mean that other GMs have no brains.

Ramza

And probably some of the other staff members do not know English as well as dovox.

During the pumpkin event, all the GMs would speak in english... The one that made me take the test laughed at the simplicity of the questions... So I guess he speaks the language :P

Dovo bring more GMs here, we wanna meet them :P

Mauvecow always makes a big deal out of this, but you need to think more openly.

Every mobile has a few serious drawbacks

Lightning: Cant hit people underground, Can't melee, Small angle.
Bigfoot: Can't climb well, Screwed 8/10 times long range, small true angle.
Ice: Shots fire from different spots on the mobile, often making shot 2 impossible to use from a pit, has low movement and crappy climb
Nak: Low movement, dependent on terrain
Armor: Serious delay issues and a small true angle, not to mention a weak SS
Aduka: Low HP/Defense, Crappy attack damage, dependent on thor.
Grub: Low damage, dependent on terrain
Sate: Awkward firing angle, making it difficult to shoot out of a hole, Hard to use long range
Raon: The obvious mine glitch paired with a low damage shot 1 and pretty low movement.
Cake: Low firing angle and low defense/health and an entirely useless SS
Boomer: Very low hp/defense, very dependent on wind.
Mage: Pretty standard mobile, nothing spectacular damage wise. Shot 2 has a tendency to do oddly low amounts of damage if you cant use it.
Turtle: Very low movement, hard to use SS, and odd delay.
Trico: Fires differently when facing left/right, difficult to learn and can be difficult to impossible to hit perfectly in some situations

So you see, when you think about it, things are kinda balanced (ignoring Sate's high damage)

The mobiles that most need fixing are Sate (Damage), Raon (mines), Ice (SS), Cake (SS and firing angle) and Bigfoot (needs better climbing)

This is straying into more of a "what needs to be fixed" topic. I don't think that was the intent at all...

Shere

Yeah I know, but there is so much to be fixed it comes up in every topic like this. You cant say what you think of the game without stating the bad things and the bad things are what need to be fixed. Get it?

Anyway, Gunbound is a great game as a whole but when you factor in the community and constant glitching it greatly diminishes what could be an excellent game.

I so agree with that. You seem to the like the oracle is to the matrix, you balance the stupidity of gunbound  :punches:

Dont let this sig make you think im a woman. Being the man that i am, I just like vagina. Vagina is good for you
