QuoteGlad the turtle info was able to help... nice screenshots too ^^
It must be avatar on for the 800+ damage shot, right? Or does force now affect the SS?

Snapple's info looks good too, except I tend to use a bit less power, about 3.75 - 3.8 ... 3.9 for past 1 SD or wind.

Also it's a good point about against wind (that's something that's missing in my guide) - against wind 'slows down' the shot and you must add a hair of power, even though you'd think left and right wind shouldn't affect the airtime. You have to deal with the same thing with timebombs and with trico 3in1s. Wind towards the enemy also requires lowering the power a bit.
I disagree,  Creedo.  800 is easily attainable with a dual force shot...especially in WC.  I just left a game where a teammate of mine hit the game ending dual force for 947.

Also, about reducing power for tailwind...I disagree as well.  The ss opens, and you do not want it completely vertical...you want it to open up a little, so that when the balls hit, since they are movine, they line up.  let me try to demonstrate.

             o
             o
             o
             o
             o
             o
             o

This will result in...

         ooooooo

...since it is moving toward the right.

What you want it too look like...

             o
              o
               o
=====>          o
                 o
                  o
                   o

so, that when it lands, the previous ball hits where the next one will.

This is only for tailwind...not for all the other types.

Yeah, I know, but the screenshot was of an SS >_< ... that's why I asked.

So your tailwind theory is... what then, don't adjust power at all for it, allow it to open while sliding forward a bit, so that it sprays in a diagonal line, and the wind will carry the entire line into the enemy?

I find if I get a diagonal line like that, the results are what you'd expect in 0 wind...

             o
             o
              o
=====>          o
                o
                 o
                  o

If the front ball hits, the second ball will hit, the third ball will half-hit, the fourth ball will splash a bit, then the last 3 balls all miss. If you make it so that the middle balls hit, then the front and last balls miss a bit. So my experience is that if you get a diagonal line, you're gonna have a weak SS.  I've been trying to have it open as close to the peak of the arc/0 momentum as possible. So have I been wrong doing that? I'd like it if there's a trick to do a nice tailwind SS. I looked through the guide in this thread hoping a screenshot would give me a clue, but there aren't any strong tailwind shots shown.

My feeling is that except for close range, like maybe up to 3/4 screen, strong tailwind will cause a lousy SS, unless maybe you're really perfect on the power. I'd like to be wrong though.

edit: copying and pasting someone else's code = FAIL.

DietSnappple

Here we go... I just didn't want to do the code thing, so I got on GB and did this my first game :)

It looks like this

That ended up being a 542 SS.... so yeah

No...I think you didnt understand what I am trying to convey...(happens a lot...I'm bad with words :d).

Lets take this "frame by frame", shall we?

         o
          o
           o
            o
             o
              o
               o

Before it hits.

1st ball

         o
          o
           o
            o
             o
              o
               o
                 X

now, since there is tailwind, it keeps moving ---->

         o
          o
           o
            o
             o
              o
               X

         o
          o
           o
            o
             o
              X

         o
          o
           o
            o
             X

etc.  untill all the balls hit.  You need it to open up so that the angle of the line of the water balls will line it up so that they all hit.  Think of a grub shot 2 - You use angle 70 in 0 wind.  If you use 60, the top balls will miss - like what the SS you described will look like.  Too vertical, and the top couple move too fast and bypass the target.  What you are thinking my SS will do is like if you used angle 80 - bottom hits but top lands short. What in fact I am trying to say is to just get it proportinate so that, like a grub angle 70 shot, they all line up.

For grub, with tailwind, you raise angle - the same is for turtle, to change how the shot reacts to wind, however, you do it with power and not angle.

yeah, I get it, it's just that I get crappy results when I try for anything less than perfect vertical opening speed.

What you guys are showing as "diagonal" like in snapple's screenshot is more like what I'd call "as perfect and close to vertical as you could possibly hope for in tailwind". Actually snapple didn't mention tailwind so I dunno if his screencap is relevant or not.

I think what you're saying is "don't fire with the power that makes them as close to perfectlty vertical as possible, instead fire a little soft and let them spread horizontally a bit, then the wind carries them all into the enemy."

What I'm saying is, "let them open as close to vertical as possible but because there is tailwind, they will never truly be vertical, and there will be some "diagonal-ness" naturally no matter how hard you try. That diagonal-ness will create the kind of hit you painstakingly drew with code. If you were to intentionally try for even *more* diagonal-ness than what you naturally get, then the SS will just suck more, it won't improve the hit.

Unless I'm completely wrong.

thesoulofthefallen

I dont care what you tell me. Turtule ss is confusing.

Namtiehxam

We are all WAY overthinking this.  :P.

But you're saying that the SS creates the diagonal because of wind pushing it on the way up?  I can't agree with that...it's like SSing at a distance...it's pushed harder.  However, even with 26 wind -> I can still get a good SS, with I can't get a good sky SS at angle 77 (in 0 wind).

namtie: weirdly, I got the same bug you did, I saw tortista's post listed under your name. This could end up being a pretty bad board bug. I was ready to ban the dude for haxoring your account until I saw the full original post and username.

soul: yet nak is easy pfft >_>

QuoteOr does force now affect the SS?
I think it'll affect the SS if the part that hits the target is the part that was charged with Force.   If it opens up before it passes through the force, it will do extra damage because the parts that hit will have been charged.
How to shot dual?

DietSnappple

Ask nix0r, he did a super high damage (840ish.. right?) back in TH because it opened in force. Not sure about WC though . :/

O_o;... you're all overthinking how to time the SS lol.

i test shot with shot 2 and see where the last opening is (that's when it opens). it works for both time bomb and skybomb (yw ramza :P) SS methods.

say this crappy picture is the shot 2 opening and closing for the last time:

turtle SS opens
   here  -v
     .  ` ` ` .     shot 2 comes together
   .'             - =======
    ' ,         , '
        ` ` `

like:
good timebomb SS- shot 2 will open up for the last time and instead of coming together on the person, it hits the land around them.
good sky bomb SS- shot 2 is facing horizontally when it starts to come down.

lol. well, i'm an old player, back after wah 6 months? =l my way might be outdated or something

edit:
-keep trying to fix the code (never used it before)

-I THINK turtle SS does most damage in lightning.. max i ever did was 1200+ with lightning on a jewel 50 atk a long time ago
current room names: "Tenki's Game™"/"road to kalsiddon"

hoping to learn KALSIDDON, the coolest missile bot ever, then wage war on fad-bot abusers/clone sets just like JD and the def-statclone in the good old days

haha.. raon = teh antifrog

DietSnappple

I am pretty sure that in TH that Force did the most... Because if it opens in force, on a skybomb, (haven't tested timebomb...) then it does supa dupa damage. Not sure about WC. Hell, who  even plays WC nowadays.
