QuotePpl with non yellow tickets win, ppl with yellow ones don't, ppl get more than they expected....

All the people you quoted actually DID have tickets in the events they won a prize in (contrary to what you said earlier), theirs just weren't yellow.  From my understanding, prizes won were yellow, until awarded at which point they became white again.  Softynx recently made them turn green after being awarded.  I still have a yellow unawarded clown suit, but I'm not jumping to the OMG SOFTYNX FAILED WTF I AHTE YOU conclusion.  I have yet to believe anyone won a prize when they shouldn't have.  You seem to be bitter that you got unlucky in a random drawing.

I'm fairly sure 6000 people won a clown suit and 6000 people won a bear suit.  Multiple people won backgrounds because there weren't enough people to win them (I'm not 100% sure on this, but it's a damn likely explanation).
bah, I'm not a bit angry about not winning, I've said that already.

Things might seem fixed now on what concerns prizes being delivered, but still the big evil santa screwed a lot of ppl wishes and we still have no proof botters were banned and didn't win things.

After the event, we get to types of ppl:
1- the ones who won something besides the background. For this ones, the event wasn't perfect, but it was nice. This ppl just relevate the santa problem because they won, so it doesn't really matters.
2- the ones who won only the bg. For this ones, the event was screwed because the evil santa fuked up their wishes. It may seems stupid, but the wishes that got screwed, dissapearing or becoming unwanted raffles could have really made the difference, so yes santa screwed the this type of ppl.

It seems you are just ignoring the fact that the flash was horribly made, and therefore can have screwed the whole results, just because you won. Imagine your winning ticket could be with another guy if the flash wasn't screwed.

The screwed flash is enough reason to say the event was again screwed by softnyx.

To andrew: no, the event didn't ruin my christmas spirit. In fact, my x-mas spirit was really alive, since I donated around 700k in gifts ;)

Had I not won I would be satisfied with the background.  The flash wasn't horribly made.  The only times I lost wishpoints was when I entered prizes as fast as I could.  The only issue with the flash was that it was fairly exploitable.

I'm sorry but the sheer pitifulness of that statement made me laugh.  I hope you can figure out why.  With over 400,000 people participating in this event, you didn't have a good chance to win anything in the first place other than the background.  Seriously, you guys are whining so much about free items.

QuoteI have seen chick account with clown/bear suit. can't say that the event went off fair. o.o
Of course it wasn't fair.  The people who work the hardest are often not the ones who win.  That is the way weighted random draws work.

yaeh but qwazi, chick account with 1000gp o.o

So its the users fault to enter prizes fast?

Quote
The event worked fine, with the exception of a wishpoint hack that caused all of the physical prizes to be won by cheaters. Other than that, everyone who "won," won. The site was screwed up, but there were 6000 winners in each category. A majority of the players are just giving softynx a hard time because they didn't win. Softynx gave out free christmas presents to everyone. Boohoo if you didn't get any FOR FREE. Seriously, you got at least a free background (which is pretty damn nice).

Oh, the wishpoint hack is just an exception.....very reasonable.....JUST an exception

You used the lottery example back there, I will use it now:

Well, the government is distributing raffles through many points of the city. You may only gather one raffle per distribution point, so in order to have more raffles you should go around the town. (it's the same as playing more to get more wishpoints)

Well, you go to all the distribution points you can, in some of them you get 2 raffles, in some of them you get no raffles, according to the attendants humour towards you, which is totally random.

Also, you hear through the radio that a car carrying tickets was robbed and some ppl got thousands of tickets while you collect them with a lot of effort.

Later on, the government just announces winners, with no further explanation onh the incidents happened, EVEN THOUGH the government is well aware of them.

Is that event promoted by the government near to a fair event?
NO, and here follows why:

1- the rules were you would collect 1 raffles per distribution point, however in practice sometimes you got more than it should be, sometimes you got less. You should consider some ppl could have won more than they should through most of the distribution points, therefore ending up with more tickets than the others who put the same effort in it.

2- A car carrying the tickets was robbed, and still the rest of the population have no idea what was done to those tickets. Perhaps the raffles were still valid, so all the population got harmed.

3- As the distribution was completely random, a raffle that would initially be with got to another guy's hands, and therefore he would be winning with something that should be mine, ACCORDING TO THE INICIAL RULES.

4- Even though the prizes are distributed randomly and ppl with more raffles can win nothing at all easily, the event is not fair because the raffles are all exchanged because of the over or lower distribution, therefore nobody has the tickets that they should originally own.
A simple example. I'm the first to get a raffle. I'm supposed to get only one, I get two however, and the second one wins the prize. You were the second to get a raffle, however you got the third raffle since I got 2. Originally, the second raffle should be with you, but i got it due to misorganisation. Thus, the prize isn't really mine.

Now substitute:
government = softnyx
population = gb players
car robbed = wishpoint hack
attendants humour = evil santa screwing the amount of raffles AND the types of raffles

You shall get a fine description of this christmas event.

This isn't a fair event and it isn't designed to be.  It's an event that gives MANY people free prizes that they cannot get through other means.  It accomplishes that wonderfully.

great, then we should have an event that sorted out people's name out of the ranking and gave them non-buyable avatars. Indeed very smart.

The event should be fair. I don't mind playing a lot an winning nothing while a guy buys one raffle and wins. It's a event decided by luck, we all know it, so it can be called fair or unfair. However, we are not supposed to get lucky when buying raffles from santa, nor we should get lucky to find a flaw in that flash and get thousands of wishpoints.

It would only depend on luck in the final part, but it didn't, so it wasn't perfect.
In other words, it sucked because it didn't happen according to what was planed and explained by softnyx. Simple as that.
"Life is a journey, not a destination"

qwazi

Well I'm sure the thousands of non-cheaters who won real prizes would disagree with you.  I doubt they think it sucked.  It wasn't opperated perfectly, but would you rather have had no event at all?

nars2

QuoteWell I'm sure the thousands of non-cheaters who won real prizes would disagree with you.  I doubt they think it sucked.  It wasn't opperated perfectly, but would you rather have had no event at all?
well, check this:
Quote1- the ones who won something besides the background. For this ones, the event wasn't perfect, but it was nice. This ppl just relevate the santa problem because they won, so it doesn't really matters.
I am quoting myself, that's what i said already.

I am not saying this event wasn't supposed to happen, I never was and I still am not against it. All I'm saying is it had everything to be perfect, the best event of the year, but due to incompetence it was screwed again and therefore wasn't perfect.

Also, winning or not you should agree with me:
QuoteI'm the first to get a raffle. I'm supposed to get only one, I get two however, and the second one wins the prize. You were the second to get a raffle, however you got the third raffle since I got 2. Originally, the second raffle should be with you, but i got it due to misorganisation. Thus, the prize isn't really mine.

So, winners may be happy, and I don't want to ruin anyone's happiness, but everyone should be aware of that.
"Life is a journey, not a destination"

qwazi

I didn't say it was executed perfectly, but there's no question that this event is better than any other of the year.

nars2

even being better than the others, it's a lot screwed to some ppl, a lil screwed to others. It won't be remembered by all in the future as the greatest event. Some ppl god badly harmed by that santa.

omfg, I'm glad you can only see what happens to you. I've had NUMEROUS cases of ppl with few wishes that got less raffles then they should.

There were lots of ppl that had like 8 wishes and after buying raffles for teddy got only 2 raffles. You see, santa took 50% of their raffles, and that's getting screwed for them.
I had like 72 raffles for clows, when i bought and received less I didn't get too harmed, but fewer raffles meant more to those who had fewer wishes.

Got it or are you getting out of the topic for lack of arguments?

You... apparently aren't comprehending anything I said.  I myself lost over 12 tickets to santa.  However, I understand that I'm getting these tickets for free, I'm not making any personal sacrifice for these tickets.  Hell, had the flash animation worked better I might have myself a teddy suit.

Maybe english isn't your first language and you are incorrectly using words that are too extreme.  No one has been harmed by this event.  No one.

Santa didn't take anyone's raffles.  Santa didn't ruin anyone's christmas.  Think of it as another factor of randomness in this drawing.  Some people got lower numbers of tickets, but I assure you an equal number of unearned tickets were given out for the same reason.  Maybe the problem you have nars, is that you are obsessing far too much about this event.  Enjoy what you won and be thankful softnyx was so generous. Mmkay?

Shere

Nars, even if you hadn't lost any tickets, who is to say you would have won anything anyway? The event wasn't made to be fair.
