Ok I know it's been said over and over that Trico's SS does a random amount of damage, BUT lately I've been trying out the SS and getting great results, sometimes.

I'm sure it is not random damage cause you can "see" what shot will be very damaging.

Let me explain.   It's comon knowledge that the SS consists of multiple explosions and that it is a solid type bullet (it can impact on mobiles).  But that alone doesnt explain how damage behaves.

You can do two almost identical shots and get wild damage diferences.  This  happens because either the damage IS random, or because there are also small explosions.  IF these small explosions occur far away from the sweetspot they dont do damage and, from my experience, this is so.  On the other hand, these explosions are very small, smaller than Armour's shot 2 second explosion.  Also, they occur closer to the SS's explosions center point.  So it is necesary to hit the exact sweetspot to do massive damage.

Now the obvious question now is HOW IN THE WORLD ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO HIT THE SWEETSPOT????  Like I said, the SS is a solid type shot.

What no one is aware of is that  the SS digs thru land OR bots.

You can see that for yourself if you look closely when a SS hits, you'll notice that the explosions occur a bit deeper into the bot or land.  At first I thought that the shot digged a fixed distance foward that maybe depended only on the speed at impact, but that's not the case.

For example, I shot SS to an Asate doing a whopping 500 damage.  I hit on the top and in the center, with lots of speed, so the shot digged thru Asate, probably hitting very close to the sweetspot.  Did a very similar shot on Aduka, the shot also digged thru, but this time it went all the way thru the bot and thru a bit of land too, doing measly 150 damage, I saw that the explosion occur far away from Aduka's center/sweetspot.

THAT'S VERY WEIRD.  That left me absolutely confused, I did more and more testing,  and got more weird results.  But just now I came up with the missing piece in the puzzle.

Before I said that the shot "digs" thru land or bots, so,  What other weapon digs thru??  That's right NAK SHOT 2!!!!.

It make a lot of sense now, Asate actually floats above land, so there is a small empty space between the bot's bottom and the land. If SS behaves like Nak's 2 BUT it is still a solid type shot, it would dig thru Asate like Nak's 2 digs thru land, and when it encouters the empty space below it explodes.

In the Aduka case, the shot went thru the bot and it found land directly bellow, so it kept digging,  actually exploding after a set amount of time (like one or two tenths of a second).

The SS also seems to be affected by an upward acceleration like Nak's 2, cause it is harder to make the shot dig downward, against the the anti-gravity effect.

In  fact GB programmers probably just reused Nak's 2 digging code in Trico's SS, except they included the time limit.

In sumary, Trico's SS consist of very small explosions along with bigger ones (smaller ones probably occur first), it also digs thru land or bots very similar to Nak's shot 2 (including the upward acceleration Nak's 2 has) except the shot explodes if a set amount of time passes while digging.

----- Note -------
Now you also know why Nak's 2 is non-solid type shot, cause if it was solid it would be real easy to hit hovering bots like Asate, Mage or Dragon. =)

LOL now that i think about it.

ASATES, IT'S PAYBACK TIME!!!!!!  IM GONNA SS YOU ALL TO DEATH!!! hahahaah

wow, if thats true, then you did alot of research  :o:

thanks for the info  :^_^:

Nice you of you to share, thank you.

No problem. :D:

I just hope one day people will recognize Trico as the most powerful bot, because it is!!!!
Im totally convinced about that :): .

crunkbeast

Does this mean that short lobs with the trico ss should deal more damage than long range shots, since this was the ss will dig less into the ground?

It's the same difficulty to hit a sate, a mage, a boomer and a bigfoot. I think I misunderstood that statement.

i hope this information doesn't lead to an unstoppable army of mezz's who will conquer the vorld.

Not to be a nitpicker, but "I've been getting great results sometimes" is like saying "I've been getting great results randomly." :D:

I heard it explained by mauvecow, and ever since I've been sure this is the way it works.

There's a circle.
Within that circle there are lots of mini explosions.
The position and location of these mini explosions is random.

BUT common sense will tell you: The more centered the circle is on the target, the better the chance is that the mini explosions will touch hit core and therefore get some damage. Obviously if only 1/3 of the circle is touching the enemy core (i.e. a half miss) then your chances of a randomly placed mini-explosion hitting him are cut by 2/3.

People swear they see better results if they can get the enemy to 'fall through' the circle during the explosion. That may be true. By falling through the circle, you can get damage from mini-explosions at the extreme top, the middle, and the extreme bottom of the circle, whereas someone who is sitting still only gets damage from the middle. That's why it seems to do better when your enemy is on a thin ledge and you shotgun the underside of that ledge, they fall through and touch many mini-explosions on the way down. It's also why dragon seems to get hit harder by the explosion, he has a tall core so he's getting some of the explosions at the top and bottom that others won't get.

All of this still doesn't mean anything useful though - everyone has a theory on trico's SS, but nobody can get high damage every single time, whenever they want. Without being able to do that, what else can you do except try hit the center of the enemy mobile with it? (i.e. the same thing you'd do with almost any other shot in gunbound) :D:

Creedo said basically what I was going to say.

your theory on it being like a nak shot 2, except going through the mobile and not the ground, is interesting nonetheless. :o

Ill try this out.. But.. are you saying that if you shotgun the ss towards a wall, with the enemy mobile like an inch behind it, flat against his side of the wall, that it will touch him?  Because, as we all know, nak ss can travel quite far underground...

this is all built on the same info that creedo thinks is true, and that he gave just earlier:

i found that the mini explosions are about as likely to all lign up on one edge as they are to the center. one thing that is important though, when any shot hits nearby land it does a little damage. if you ever use trico shot 2 to hit a pixel floater, you realize how much you depend on nearby land. when you ss the feet of a guy with land one side and land under him (like hes on a slope, open to you) you get more chance of good damage.

i try to shotgun the ss so that it registers as a hit RIGHT under the guy (due to the fast projectile speed and low collision update speed), that way it hits the maximum amount of land as well as the enemy.

i have never witnessed ss acting like a nak shot 2 though the enemy however. even from very long distance, a shot that hit next to the enemy is just as likely to do 500 damage as one that is from nearby and lands right on his head.

i think maybe the digging you are witnessing has to do with the collision detection. if you shotgun a sates SS at an enemy, it sometimes goes THROUGH the enemy and hits the other side because of the collision detection rate is only updated about 20 times per second (one per fps im guessing), and the projectile is traveling fast enough to detect a hit very late.

00Sniper

A possible way to test this is by using the ss like a nak shot 2.. with back wind, where the trico ss will come down directly on the opponent (and with a nak ss wil go down vertically and hit in the same place)... These should be ideal conditions for >400 dmg.

I'm fairly sure it's just random, because i've done 150 damage ss's to asates before, & I've done 500 damage ss's to bots like armor.

My theory is that if you can get the bot to fall through the explosion within a set ammount of time (before the skull face formation takes full form) you will deal at a minimum 350 damage. So far it's been working for me, heh.
