oh wow, very awesome.  hope it comes back and they do more of these multi-cultural avatars!

and that's fairly historical, monkey, so the real problem is you just don't appreciate my culture's heritage. *sniffle*

sounds like some well-known urban cyber-legends, then again this kind of thing is bound to happen between family, friends, etc... maybe one day it will involve YOU.  :O_o:

very interesting- thx for posting that.

it seems to me there's a lot of question marks in this case- the guy's profile didn't seem to fit "shoplifter" at all, altho for some people it's a guilty pleasure no matter their position so who knows?  and if he did do the little sticker-switch, who actually witnessed it?  that would be a very subtle event to actually notice.  finally- why did the guy run if he was innocent?  did he actually think he could get away from security by running or was it sheer panic?  no matter what, this is distinctly looking like manslaughter for some of those employees and possibly a huge black eye for walmart and major cash settlement for driver's family.  and sam walton being a hardass skinflint, this is prolly going to ruin his whole month...

I agree /mute is a must.  I'll like even better a double right click on some1 mute, even faster.
my god, that would be orgasm-worthy.

i can't say i fully understand the history of the site, but didn't the founder desperately want it back as recently as six months ago?

if he started it and he still wants it back, why not finally give it to him?  or i'm missing something important maybe?

i can think of some useful scenerios for a language like IDO.  even tho i agree english is de facto the international language, there are times when lack of 100% penetration could cause problems.

let's say at some point in the future there's an urgent need for a scientific expedition to take place to a remote area- let's say to study the polar icecaps on site to determine why they are melting faster.  or if a certain volcano in the canary islands started to erupt there would be an extremely urgent need to determine whether it would cause a landslide on the unstable side of the volcano*. or simply an important space mission where room was at a premium.

* because that would cause a mega-tsunami that would wipe out the east coast of the united states.  no kidding.

now, the basis for choosing the international members of such expeditions might not include common language as one of the most important factors.  there might be other considerations simply more important.  but if there was a preparation time allowed that included perhaps a five-week window, then the team could potentially solve the language problem while they were making their other preparations.  and since the mission was scientific there might be plenty of mathematical language in common also.

it's hard to know what the future holds, but scenerios like this are a possibilty...

undoubtedly.  yet it will still have a long way to go before it's as heavily-targetted as IE.

actually IIRC at least two of the last five FF updates have been made to address potential security holes.

tabs are awesome but they're hardly unique to firefox and IMO are the least of the reasons why projects like firefox kick IE's virtual ass all over the place.  some more important ones:

- open-source project: so you can examine the source, make changes if you wish, create parallel projects (as with MAME for example) and generally feel happy that a community has created your tool instead of a corporation.  because instead of money being the primary motivation behind the product you're using, functionality is.

- lower profile: IE is by far the most popular browser and by extension the most-targetted.  just because you haven't gotten malware yet is no proof that IE is safer- it's much more likely a reflection of your browsing tendencies.  but put IE and FF side-by-side through a gamut of dangerous sites and IE is the one that will show the greater vulnerability.  not necessarily IE's fault, but a case of the old german saying "no pity for the majority" ("neine mitleid fuer die merit" or something)

- software extensions: a robust, systematic and facile method of adding custom functionality.  and just another example of community involvement and easy-to-use open-source nature.  the power you have with extensions is equal or greater to the expandability of any other product i've ever seen.

- the simple fact that you're not using a product designed by MS$, presided over by one of the world's most ruthless, clever scam-artists.  of course if you believe in capitalism and free-enterprise then you really have to take your hat off to the guy.  but if you understand how he got where he is and have a conscience then you just might not wanna have anything to do with him.
