Dear all users.

From June 26th (Sat), we had been receiving some serious attacks on our servers. We tried to maintain our server while blocking such attacks. However the number of attacks from users continued to increase and therefore had no choice but to shut down our service temporarily. This server attack was due to an "attack program" made by a certain user who had spread the program to other Gunbound users. All users who had downloaded and installed this program had unknowingly participated in the attacks.

Softnyx has now reconstructed and installed a new system which blocks out all IP of users who had participated in the attack and all other future server attacks. However this process had taken longer than we had expected and has caused some serious inconveniences to our users.

I deeply apologize to all our users and promise to provide a more safe and reliable service in the future through a stronger management of our servers. Softnyx will do our best to provide and maintain the best service for all Gunbound users.

the whole softnyx site is down.  anything related to gunbound is down.  i think korean site is down as well.  they really got badly attacked this time...i have a bad feeling its gonna be down for a while.

If it's flooding/smurfing, they can't fix it by blocking IP's.  Flooding gives it more packets than it can handle... and even if it doesn't respond to those packet and refuses to accept them, it still 'sees' them and deals with them.  Enough packets can still knock the server out.  In fact having a firewall-type program that identifies the incoming IP of each packet is generally a waste and will make the problem worse... now instead of just getting the packets you have the computer waste some time and processing power analyzing them.  If the packets have faked IP's, then everyone's kinda screwed :/
